I want an in dash cup holder don't you?

I have a 2006 2500 4WD automatic reg. cab with the manuel 4WD shift on the floor/console. I guess that DM didn't install a dash mounted cup holder because it would interfere with the floor shift. I would like to remove the console cup holder so that a 3rd person would have a place to put their feet.
I already had this part out and it looks great without it. My question is:
Can I put the dash mounted cup holder (part # 5JU311DHAB) in my truck even though it didn't come with one? If it did hit the shifter a little bit I would even be willing to cut part of it out. If anyone has done this or could advise I would appreciate it.:

cant be done, it will not go down all the way, and if you did install it, you still wouldnt have any leg room for the center seat person if you had drinks...theyre knees would be beat to death with that cup holder. you could only get the in dash holder with 2wd for a reason...dont start cutting your truck apart....never pans out the way you want it to.
