I just took my diesel front case half and installed it on the 460 rear half. All of the gears stay attached to the rear half, so it was easy. You might have to adjust the shims to get the internal bearing preload right, but it’s not hard and the zf-5 service manual is free online and has step-by-step instructions.

Should be good I’m not sure how precise the adapter plate and bell housings are made but I got equal distance in 4 points

Hi in the Cascades, Nearly- Redmond,Oregon
So to make me understand correctly, the Gasser ZF5 I/we need in place of our diesel ZF5 needs to come from a gasser 460 ZF5? Or was there gasser ZF5s behind other gas engines sizes besides a 460?
I'm looking at a friend's rig he's thinking about parting out or fixing up, he's not sure yet.
If he parts out I may be able to get the gasser ZF5 with the BW1356 that's with it. I not sure what size gasser engine is in it, never thought to check.
Well I went by & looked yesterday & it's got a 460 in it.
My friend not sure yet what going to do, so I may or maynot wind up with that ZF5 transmission & BW 1356.
He & I always helping each other on stuff

Getting ready to do the zf5 swap this weekend, will be the second I’ve done in a bull I take alot of pride in keeping it looking original so I like to keep the right shifter, knobs, and boots.
But I like to change the inserts correctly but this is my truck that I care extra alot about and I really didn’t want to just Jam a 5 speed insert in the smooth worn out knob
Turns out a good confusion bullnose trans shift knob is not out there for sale that I’ve seen, hell I haven’t even seen with with noticable texture in person

But I figured out the 4wd knob is the same and those are readily available
And paired with a NOS 5 speed insert I am beyond happy and pleased with how it looks

Will keep posted for when the swap is all done
