The front end has twin I beams, coil springs. Here is a pic of the truck. It came as a flatbed. I found out that not all F350's have the same springs in the rear.

I understand. Suppose if I swap out my tranny for the 4x4 s42, a new driveshaft will be in order, will have to do my homework. Thanks Towcat.

Yes again what you have is a cab and chassis f350. So the frame is completely different aswell as the leaf springs and rear axle. Like stated a regular Truck bed won’t fit and neither would a regular axle or leaf springs

Biggest giveaway for an F-Superduty (That is what the fender badge says)

    10 Lug Wheels

Straight 2wd Rockwell Front Axle not the "Twin I-Beam" front suspension.

I like the cab & chassis frames. They're more resistant to buckling when (ab)used hard. My buddy has one under his '93 Grizzly (mini-big-rig).

A 4wd ZF5(42) and appropriate transfer case don't have to cost a bunch. Fixed rear yoke readily available in Broncos, late OBS trucks, and Superduties. They're not gold mines like the NV4500 and 241DHD.

You can also look for a diesel zf s5-42 with a 5.72 first gear. Yes they did make them. My dad had one in his dually. The lower first gear also gives you the lower reverse gear. Another thing the 460 zfs came with the lower geared version. Many have modded it to fit the diesel. I know @Dieselcrawler has done a few.

I've also heard you can reload the diesel ZF case with the gas gears.

    3.79 to 4.66 or 5.24 isn't nearly as noticeable a change as 3.79 * 2.69tcase = 10.19:1

Plus, you've sacrificed a 'driving' gear to have a maneuvering gear.

The 5.xx 1st and R in the Cummins dodges (G360 and NV4500) aren't a cure-all. Those ratios are okay, but I still prefer lo range for trailers. I miss the close ratio S42 w/tcase in my F350. Best of both worlds.

Are you speaking of my truck as having 10 lug wheels? 10 lug wheels start with the F450's correct?

I like my setup as well. This truck is very stout. Believe it or not, this truck was given to me last summer by a friend of mine. I spent around $3500 in parts, not counting my labor, before I started driving it in Nov. Clutch, tranny are still to be done. Along with ip and injectors but runs fairly well. Am looking in classifieds now for that 4x4 s42 with transfer case.

Throw in 6 new Firestone transforce tires so am at roughly 4500 but am just starting to get this where I want it to be.
Thought about a spicer and brownie box combo.......but there is no room I think. From most posts I read, most are satisfied with the ZF trannies, so will keep it simple.

My experience in Florida looking for one of these trucks was not good(in the junkyards). I ran around all over the place looking for a hard line for the injection system. I was in the Pensacola area but searched electronically all the way to Jacksonville. The cash for clunkers took a lot of these trucks off the road and out of the junkyards permanently.

I don't know if you picked up on it in a previous post, but you can use a 460 zf and transfer case if you are brave and can drill some holes. I don't think it is too bad using the bell adapter as a drilling guide.

Not to threadjack, but if you have the Superduty/F450 ZF trans with the parking brake, which transfer case would swap onto it?
