No. I had even thought about it before myself, until I did more research into it.
Too hard to setup just right. Basically would need to put it on the Rollers with a custom chip tuner at hand to get it right.

Suture...

Finally got garage time in. Time to sew the patient back up.

I thought I knew how to weld. You wouldn't know it looking at the welds.
The Lincoln Easy MIG 180 is on its lowest setting on gas a 15 psi, and I'm still blowing holes in the metal.
I started at the top and butted the pieces together and it didn't go so well. I had to do lots of stitching. I hate stitching. I tried using coat hanger wire as filler, but that still wasn't very good. If anybody has any welding tips for welding thin metal, I'm all ears/eyes.

I then decided to do overlap patches. This worked much better. It still looks like crap; looks like Dr. Frankenstein did the work. Today, I'm a grinder not a welder, but the hole is closed up! :) It's going to be all covered up, but I'll still know. Must be a Virgo thing. LOL

as a hobby welder, (by no means a professional)
youre holding the trigger too long for this type of welding.

one zap at a time.

then move.

once youve done 5-6 tacks in the same spot, obviously the metal is hot and will blow through.
even on the lowest setting.
i have the same welder.

some aluminum on the otherside with someone holding it works well too.

The passenger side dash brace needed to be modified. I shortened it by about an inch. I cut off the end that mounts to the firewall at the final bend. I then just drilled another bolt hole .

Taking the dash out is a lot easier that putting it back in. I pulled out more screws and pieces than I needed to. Oh well. It's a learning experience for the next time right?

Yes, I plan on running the 6.0 intercooler (Ford calls it a Charge Air Cooler) which is currently in my basement. :)

Planning on running the stock 2003 spyder.

I have the stock CAC in pipe, but it'll probably need adapting.

I don't have the CAC out pipe, or all the boots needed. :p I should start hunting down a CAC outpipe.
Looks like custom boots will be needed too. Sigh...

Hey, thanks for the compliments. It helps to know someone appreciates the work that goes into a custom. Even if it is a mild custom. I know you do. :)

Thanks for the pipe offer too.

may want to look at getting the 99.5-03 7.3 intake plenums.
may make it easier on you.
97 plenums are smaller hole.

Still chewing on the elephant

It's been too long since I've done an update. That's because I haven't been very productive. :p

After seeing some of the progress on other build threads, I was motivated to do some more work. Thanks for the inspiration guys!

Got the dashboard back together and installed a Pioneer stereo I had sitting around.

Engine wiring harness was lengthened.

Battery trays cleaned up and painted. Rest of the big wires put in place.

Rad support installed. 6.0 intercooler waiting to be installed. You can see the hood release temporarily bent out of the way.

Estimating where I need to make the cuts. Difficult for one person to do.

Fender to hood alignment. It looks much better than the pic shows.

That's it for now. Keep on chewing guys!

The transportation shop kept the 2003 HPOP, I got the old 1997 HPOP.
No problem for me tho, I had previously bought a new 17* HPOP to go into the red 1997. It is on the Parts truck engine now. The old HPOP out of the 2003 engine that I bought will now go into the Red truck. It is also the 17* HPOP.

Pretty sure I'm gonna have to replace mine soon. I think it's leaking, so kinda looking for a core/one to throw on if I send mine in. Lol
The 17° would be a upgrade for mine.
