$2,500 for the data logging capabilities that the I-Dash system has is a pretty good deal. I am currently trying to push through a capital request to spend over $50K to upgrade the data loggers in each of the 5 dyno cells here at work. On-vehicle stuff gets even more expensive. I had over $80K into a data logger at a past employer. That unit could take over 200 channels of data, had a 6 axis GPS unit, and could read the entire vehicles CAN-bus all at once. End up with so much data you wouldn't know what to do with it.

I did just purchase an older SOMAT data logging unit for my personal use. I may have to give Digi-Key a call and get some sensors coming and wire up the old IDI.....

Oh my lord, she’s a different truck with the 4” exhaust. Just took it for a quick test ride and was hitting 17psi and the turbo just lights off sooo much faster. I had to hit the pedal for awhile before to get up to even just 8 psi. Now that needle just swings up 15.

I don’t care for the extra noise of the straight piped exhaust, hopefully it won’t bring unwanted attention.

But holy cow is it a meaner and more powerful truck now.

After a nice break from working on this thing, I finally decided to convert to Hydroboost. Totally worth it if anyone’s on the fence about it. I know there’s about a million threads Hydroboost here, but I figured I’d share the parts I used here since that was a little tough for me to find on this site.

I got everything from NAPA except for the PS pump I got from autozone.

New Hydroboost unit P/N 52-7079. This came with the correct length pushrod already installed on it.

New Master Cylinder P/N M4566. This included the proportioning valve already on it. Originally, I made the old master cylinder work by cutting the holes out a little bit to get it to mount onto the Hydroboost, but I felt uneasy about that and decided I might as well do it right and get the super duty master cylinder that fits.

PS Pump: Edelmann P/N: 6014R

Hydroboost to Gearbox pressure hose.
Edelmann P/N 71416

Hydroboost to PS pump hose.
Edelmann 71442. I read on this site that 71415 works. It doesn’t work with the Hydroboost or pump that I got it. Use 71442.

For the return hose, I just had NAPA cut me a length of 3/8” power steering return hose

Like other members had mentioned, you have to modify the brake pedal and move the pin up about 3/4”-7/8” of an inch. @hacked89 had a great write up in the tech articles section for this.

Also, turn the wheel slowly when you’re bleeding the system if the pump isn’t running, otherwise you’ll make a huge mess like me!

Thanks for the great write up on the hydroboost. Always super helpful to have links to the parts used. Wondering if I could make a request and get a close up picture what your set is to vent the crankcase from the IP timing gear housing. I have the Banks adapter but I would love to use the AN set up you have to the catch can. Thanks in advance!

Sure, I just welded a 12AN bung to the cover and used a low profile 90 degree 12AN fitting to clear the serpentine belt. Though a hose barb would work just as well and you could prob fit a bigger a hose on one. Routed the hose through a catch can and welded another 12 an bung onto my intake.

With the venting, its better to have a larger hose and shorter hose run. This set up is working right now, hardly any blow by, but if my rings ever wear out maybe I’d need a larger hose.

This is the catch can I used.

Thanks man, really appreciate the pics and info. Really like that set up. Very clean. I was originally going to vent through the valve covers but will end up doing something like this.:Thumbs Up
