Any truck with dual wheels, can get something stuck between the tires. I have seen Dump trucks with a rock stuck between the tires going down the road. Very dangerous situation, If you ever come across one, stay way far away from it. The rock or object can come flying out like a projectile.
Working between the tires can/will weaken both side walls.

Years ago when I was working for the State, we had been out all night keeping the roads open with some bad storms. Trees down, mud slides etc... would use the Plows to cut up the trees and push them as well as slides/rocks off the road. What ever it took.

Got back to the yard 8am in the morning, was doing my paper work in the truck, the other had backed along side of me. I hear this Tink, Tink sound,,,and sudenly a large BOOM .
Roy was knocking a rock from the duals with a digging bar, and the tire exploded. He comes from behind the truck holding his hand over his ears with them ringing. Could have been worse.

New-to-me rear bumper has had the front side wire wheeled, blasted, and painted. Still need to do the backside.

Just posted a video of the latest - soup bowl delete, new wheels and tires (Hankook Dynapro AT2), engine oil and filter change, fuel filter change, CDR valve change (turned into a complete fiasco!), ZF5 oil change, Sterling 10.25 rear differential oil change, new vent tube and breather on the rear differential, and a bunch of other stuff!

Time for a long overdue update.

Yanked the old windshield (it was cracked), removed the surface rust, treated channel with POR-15, followed with POR-15 primer, installed new clips, followed by urethane and a new windshield.

Went through the front brakes - new flexible lines, new calipers, new pads. Bled the brakes, too, of course. Brake pedal still mushy. :(

Then I had a frolic and detour with a Caterpillar 977.

And then I rented a 20' x 50' shop and spent a lot of time getting it set up.

Sold the 977 and made room in the shop to work on Brownie and a few project cars.

Anyway, I finally did some work on Brownie again this weekend. Got her all cleaned up, parts organized on the shelf. Installed new Bilsteins out back. Pulled off the rear drums; had some trouble getting them off, of course, but some gentle tapping with a BFH and a brass drift convinced them to let go. All hardware looked good, wheel cylinders aren't leaking, drums are good, shoes are good, so I installed a new soft hose, then hit everything with some brake cleaner and buttoned it back up. Adjusted the parking brake while I was under it.

Next up - new power window motors and regulators up front, remove the roof spoiler, install new hood latch cable, remove the sliding glass rear window and replace with a solid one piece. Looks like I'll be replacing the master cylinder and power brake booster, too.

Just replace the plastic gears in the regulators. No need to replace the motors unless they don't work. I’ll bet the spongy brake pedal is from the rear drums needing adjustment. They need a few clicks every 5-6k miles.

I also bought a two owner ranch truck in SW Kansas back in April 2020 at the onset of covid. It had 118k miles on it. Drove it 400 miles home without a hitch. Though it was an awful ride with the true dual straight pipes. Below are the before and after lots of work and a pic from two weeks ago on the last leg of a 1500 mile work trip to GA.

Your shop isn`t big enough, never are.
When empty they are huge.....then somebody drags in all this stuff
when you aren`t looking.
Iam still out in the cold, and laying on the dirt.

Nice looking blue truck. Do you have Air bags in the rear?
The do help to level out with a load.

Thank You for the update.

I'm ok with just replacing the plastic gears. I have a pair on the way from Jeff's Bronco Graveyard.

I wish that was the case, but it's not.

I started off wrenching in the dirt in our pole shed. Only dropped my '69 Camaro off the floor jack once; luckily I wasn't under it at the time.

Anyway, after 26 years in the Army (I retired last year) and 15 moves, it's nice to be able to unpack and get settled in somewhere.

Congrats! Retirement is the best promotion I retired 1 Dec 2019 after 20yrs with the Air Force.

Time to work that VA claim if you didnt hit a homerun out of the gate on your BDD claim.

You are right!!!!
Back in '91 I went by with the property management company lady and looked at a shop to rent for maybe a welding shop. It was late in the afternoon. She opened the man door & we stepped inside to look things over.
Way down at other end there was one little light bulb shinning...... 10,000 Ft building & only one light bulb shinning way, way off down on other end in the dark..... sorta made it look like a big big monstrous building!!!
I thought for a little bit, finally said to the lady "There's no way I'll EVER be able to use this much space but I'll go ahead & take it." The price was extremely cheap for the rent/lease.

Within a year-to 1 1/2 yrs we were running out of room!!!!! Had 10-12-14 guys/welders in there working and things got crowded!!!

I replaced the plastic gears; motors were fine, but gears were stripped. Thanks for the recommendation!

FYI - I realized after the fact that I didn't need to remove the case from the motor, but it went back together without any issues.

Yep. If I rented a 40' x 60' shop, I think I'd run out of space a few weeks after moving in.

Well I'm building a 40x64 as we speak. And I'm already running out of room. Just got Electrical Final Inspection passed yesterday.
Still got to pour slab, put up 2 overhead 14x14 doors, few other things.
Been 6+ yrs on this project & it's made an old man out of me!!!
Had lots of things happen last few yrs that threw me off.....I won't go there.
I'll get my 40x64 POUT HOUSE done yet!!!!
