I have noticed, since Russ ran out of new castings, that there are a lot of people out there still with sloppy up pipe castings for the stock turbo.
trying to use tape, fiberglass, and whatever they can find to seal this pipe.
I want to turbo Sulaco, and I thought now would be a great time to fab some up.

pulled a spare engine into the shop, (ive got another project to do as well)
and slapped the essentials on, and dove right in!

im out of 309 rod to weld the v-band flange to the T, so tomorrow is a new day.
I plan on making a jig after I get my pipe done and hopefully beable to supply these.
stay tuned freaks!

Closely monitoring this. I am prepping my slug (94 f250 N/A) for a banks sidewinder that I just picked up and I will likely need to do some custom fab work on it.

What paint did you use on the manifolds?

That factory pipe is way too restrictive in my opinion. I always wanted to do what your doing but never got the chance.

I know being n/a would not do much or so I assume what would your price be for a uppipe.

If I keep my truck rig a 1993 7.3 n/a want to make it a turbo at some point so trying to gather prices an know how beforehand.

I was wondering about this as well. Is there a reason that the pipe that came with the IDI specific turbo kits is a flattened out cast iron brick? Is there some heat transfer advantage to having a cast up pipe vs just using tubing like this?

Also - I had heard that to turbo these trucks, people usually just flip the manifolds around so they are pointing up instead of down and run a pipe up and over to the turbo rather than down around the transmission the way an N/A exhaust works. Is it actually possible to do that or do you have to run underneath the trans?

The factory turbine wheel is much more restrictive than any of the piping, at its largest diameter it’s still smaller than 2.5” iirc.
