how to tell if i have stock injectors? worth testing?

my truck has a pretty new injection pump on it supposed to have 30-40k on the pump theres a date on the tag im pretty sure but i cant see it. is there any way to tell if my injectors are stock? if there stock are they worth pop testing? or should i just go on and replace them? body has 207k miles the motor has 50-60k miles and the pump has 30-40k miles. if any one can explain how to tell if their stock i'd greatly appreciate it! thanks!!

If they are still painted gray, it is usually a tell tale sign that they are original. If they do not match the engine paint, they are most likely replacements.

If they're painted gray then they're stock. If not, then they've been changed. They may rebuilt and have a band on them with a date when they were done (no telling how many miles though).

well are they worth pulling out to test? i know id have to clean the bored do new washers tee's and returns but if they test great would it be worth it?

Usually we look to see if the injectors are painted grey but. When your motor was rebuilt it may have been painted all the same color. Otherwise a new set of injectors are generally black. Some rebuilders paint the entire motor the same color. Thats including the injection pump, injectors, return lines and caps and the waterpump.

i know the ip is silver. not sure on water pump tee's or returns but give me a few mins and ill go check

ok the back for injectors are black and the front 4 are grey? i couldnt find any letters stamped on them but its dark out side i was using a cell phone for light haha. ill look tommarow closer and see what all is going on on under there. the ip is bare metal not painted.

I wouldn't bother pop testing them if you can afford to replace them. Truth is, original injector performance seldom lasts beyond 30K. After that, pop presure and spray pattern begin to degrade.

Sounds like you have a mixed bag of injectors... Probably a good idea to change them for a set of BB codes.

Yes... The code letter is stamped in the hex where the wrench fits for installing or removing the injector. Use an inspection mirror for the tight areas....

BB codes are the only readily available replacements, they work very well. I have one set left ,matched with return kit and viton orings. If interested pm me. 295 shipped

Gary is right. The coding is stamped on the injector. Finding the stamping with the injector installed might be challenging.

I havnt been home to mess with it been in Nashville my brother had a bad car accident so he's been in and out of surgery. I'm going home as soon as they get him woke up so we can talk to him. Hopefully I can find the codes but I felt around the injector and didn't feel nothing so I'll get a mirror and see what I can find. What code are stock injectors?
