I can't speak for other States, but in Oregon you have to have either have all people listed on the title sign off, or have whoever has power of attorney/estate manager sign off if they are deceased. Had to deal with that on my camper, original owner had passed away, estate took it to a dealership to sell on consignment. Took me 8 months to get the title. They are really strict about titles here.

It shouldn't be very hard to apply for a new title. Paperwork gets lost or damaged so i would guess all states have some procedure to remedy the situation.
I tried, actually have a friend at the DMV, she says they don't give out new titles for old vehicles

Found this under the seat today from 2014. Looks like it was burning throw a lot of oil awhile ago, at least thats what I would think, what do y'all think? Who knows what this guy was doing, maybe he didn't do oil changes.. the filter that was on it was very old. One of the long motorcraft ones.

Odometer shows 8,*** now. So it's rolled at least once.

That’s about how much oil I put in… more than I’d like but… any oil consumption below 1 qt per ~600 mile is within ford/IH spec. I’m usually running Oreilly or Walmart 15/40 fwiw

So it’s normal to have to add oil between oil changes? How often do you do an oil change?

Yeah for me it definitely is, on both the ‘88 idi and ‘02 tdi. Both engines are strong runners, never have issues starting up on functional glowplug systems and don’t smoke more than a second or two on startup.

Idi goes through maybe a qt of oil every 500-700 miles, probably a mix of leak and burning not sure. I run both the smaller idi oil filter and the larger power stroke filter depending on what’s cheaper - and with the dipstick hash being 2 qts - there isn’t a lot of precision to know exactly how much is consumed.

Have gone on road trips from wa state to San Diego and driven almost 1k miles and not needed to add any oil it’s kind of a mind fu ck so I don’t sweat it.

Tdi goes through about .5qt every 1k miles.

My change intervals are ~3k for idi conventional 15w-40 and ~7.5k on tdi with full synth 5w-50.

I just keep feeding oil when they need it and drive em

Both engines are at about 204k miles and the truck gets maybe 5k miles a year and vw maybe 10k

Here's my story. My rear main seal leaks. My speedometer also doesn't work so I don't know how many miles I put on an oil change. I do know that the seal leaks A LOT more oil when it's due for an oil change. With a fresh oil change, I've gone over 1500 miles and had gone through .5-1 quart. It also seems to leak less when I take the truck for a long drive.
Maybe whoever left that paper only drove the truck for short trips. Maybe only 5-10 miles drives, maybe even less. If you drive it for longer distances, it may end up using less oil. Your cylinders certainly didn't look bad so I don't think that your engine is worn out.

In regards to your cylinder point. I think you have me confused with another poster. I haven’t posted any info on my cylinders health. Just that it doesn’t have blow by

Sorry about that.
Any idea on how this return line kit runs? I think the guy before me may have done it wrong but also it seems like I have one 90 degree (bottom left) and it should just be a single? Unless I am missing something.

forget the specifics but it’s year-dependent and this is the “older style?”. If I understand your issue correct I recall running into the same problem when I redid mine (on an 88) and had to reuse that single cap bc my kit from Napa didn’t have the proper one. haven’t had issues…

The custom machined kits sold on here/eBay from aluminum and stuff allow you to select/customize all the right fittings fwiw
