Hi, I picked up a 093 turbo kit from Wes at Classic Diesel designs.

Truck is an 84 4x4 extended cab standard 4 speed trans.

Got the turbo kit and 90 cc IP with BB injectors from Wes.

Studded the heads with the ARP studs, Felpro gaskets.

Engine is on a stand and I could use advise on assembling the turbo and overflow lines (1/4")(routing and such) and installing the IP lines.

I have never seen an installed turbo nor do I know anyone who has one of these IDI trucks.
    Here is where I am.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Replaced the oil cooler seals, they were not leaking, but the big one fell apart when removed.

Looks great so far! The valve covers need to be flipped, the side you have on the passenger side (dipstick side of the engine) needs to be on the opposite end to mount the cdr to feed into the black intake box. In place of where the CDR mounts the black pedestal bolts in, which along with the flange on the up pipe, mounts the turbo assembly, which you will need to clock to work with the interference fit in the intake hat (snail). With the turbo installed into the intake hat, you can tighten up the exhaust bolts (leave the crossover pipe off until the engine is installed) clean and install the cdr into the mount on the driver side valve cover, install the intake box into the turbo inlet and tighten down the assembly to the bosses on the intake manifold, and install the filter and top lid onto the intake box. Once you have the engine installed you can install the downpipe and your intake snorkel. Your gpc gets mounted on your passenger side valve cover on the flat threaded flange, thanks for your sharing your install I’ll have to steal some pictures for the website!

Thanks for the guru foo. I will get more pics up for you. The glow plug controller has been bypassed by a prior owner. It is a push button. Which I like. a studs.jpg

One more thing that I saw. I'm pretty sure that the engine lifting bracket underneath the up pipe (the rear one on the passenger's side) needs to come off. The turbo will hit it when installed. You'll have to add an extra washer underneath each bolt head or else the bolts will bottom out in the holes and it won't be tight against the manifold. Or else you could buy some shorter bolts.

Hone marks still visible in cylinders.

Good that you replaced those. My cooler blew a week after I installed the engine I rebuilt, and boy was it a pain to get the cooler out and back in with the engine in the truck. Lesson learned for me LOL

These might be a decent reference for you as well. If what you have from Wes is a Ford Factory system then there are some slight differences but just ask if you have any questions.

Great pictures. What really stood out is the routing of the injector hard lines where the air filter fits.
I will have to bend the lines down for the factory air filter box. Thanks !

Just a note so there's no confusion later; good pics but for some reason the CDR valve is mounted backward on the valve cover on this engine. Maybe because someone was running a Road Draft Tube? Otherwise I can't think why it would be turned like that.

Having never seen a turbo setup, I put it on the wrong side. It's fixed now.
I need a new CDR to fit the turbo setup. Where can I get one?
