went to darkside...'92 F350 crew cab w/banks turbo 5sp for sale

Ok...I could not find a for sale section so here it is. Feel free to move or direct to the right location if this is not ok. This truck is a 4x4 XLT with pw,pdl,cruise,a/c etc. Truck has 220k miles. Motor is a 6.9L IDI out of an '87 F250 with about 150k miles. Also has banks turbo. Runs...

EGT Limit for Banks Sidewinder Temp

Good thing I found this thread...I was just wondering the same thing. Took my fiver out this weekend...about 8500#'s loaded and was hitting 1200° fast and would slow down to 35mph or so to not go over that. I would hold that temp for a couple minutes of so till I was over each pass. It was so...

    Cold air intake...sorta

That's why I said I have to figure out how to trap the oil if I do it. Maybe I could just run the CDR inline on the way to the tube? I know it let a lot of oil in the intake before. I'm not sure what to do...but there is a lot of smoke out the RDT. I was thinking of piping it to the rear...

    Cold air intake...sorta

That's why I need to build shrouds around the filter. To keep it from getting dirty too fast and to isolate any of that hot air from the engine. All I know is it is WAY better than that banks black box intake. :puke: On performance, maintance and a whole lot more. BTW...it was Moose Air...

    Cold air intake...sorta

It might not be getting all cool air but it's much better than the banks black box that only used a 1/3 of the filter. cookoo I still need to build some shrouds around the filter to get max cool air. It looks like EGTs dropped about 100°. And power increased about 20%. Whistling increased...

    banks pyro

Most of the time the gauge and thermocouple are fine and there is just a bad connection between the two. Of the three turbo'd trucks I bought the pyro never worked on any of them. I just cleaned up all the connections and presto all three work now. :D The two connections to check are off the...

    Flex pipe for y?

If you can get some...try it. I don't see why it won't work. We use it on our freightliners when the exhaust goes from the frame to the cab. And I am sure you have seen how much the cab moves around.

    I'm Back>>>Barely

Glad you made it back safe. Propane should help you on those hills. I only hit it when I start losing speed. It either holds or speeds back up. The turbo should also make you smile...once it's hooked up. But even with turbo and propane don't expect miracles. My dad's trailer is about...

Leaky fuel tanks & JB Weld

Well...the one side went on good and seemed to stick nicely. Then while applying to another pinhole the tank shifted and it started leaking. So I did as instructions said and pressed firmly until leak stopped...it mentioned a reaction with the gas. Except the leak didn't stop and the clay...

Leaky fuel tanks & JB Weld

Do you think that stuff will stick to a "wet" tank? I have the truck up on ramps right now so the fuel isn't dripping out anymore...but if I wipe it down the area still gets wet after a couple minutes. I just need to it get through the weekend. Then I want to find a 30gal tank where I can...

    "Remote Mounted" turbo

turbo lag "(With the turbo so far back, don't you get a lot of turbo lag?) No, our turbochargers are sized to operate at this remote location. Just like any turbocharger, once the turbo is up to temperature and in the rpm range for which it was designed to operate. The boost comes on hard and...

    Head is off...what to inspect?

I guess I figured a visual inspection would be easier. I have seen some cavitation holes before that only leaked under pressure. But this engine drank 2 gallons of coolant in about an hour...while parked...with radiator cap off...so I figured it would be obvious! The water level dropped to...

    Head is off...what to inspect?

I finally got the drivers side head off on the 7.3 engine from my '92. I am looking for a blown head gasket. It was drinking coolant and had a bad miss. Though all my issues may be from cavitation I haven't got that far yet. Would it be obvious where coolant was getting in the cylinder from...

    y-pipes

Maybe you can try some flex pipe? I am not sure where you can get 2.5" but we use big stuff on our freightliners. Put it on and see what kind of boost and egt's you get. Everything could be just fine.

    growling noise with new clutch

Yep...it's normal with solid fly. I hate it! Found out my dmf is within specs so I might put it back in when I have the tranny off again. You can so a search for "gear rollover". Here is a thread I had recently about it. My next step is to try straight 30w motor oil instead of ATF. If you...

    EARLY BANKS TURBO

$360 for the newer design...up-pipe on pass side. They don't make the older style with the up-pipe on drivers side anymore. Ref this thread. I would check with an exhaust shop and see if they can repair/fabricate a new one cheaper than banks. And it the turbo says rotomaster they can't...

Cruise control decided to bite the dust...

The fuse should be the same one as the horn...if it honks your fine. You might check the vacuum dump valve off the brake lever (under dash). Mine worked it's way loose and then no more cruise.

I think we are talking about $40K CAN...$27k sounds about right for the states. There is always currency confusion on these forums.

    Lady Moose leak

If they are only charging $400 dollars it must be an easy fix. If the back half is the same as mated gv's and only the front "adapter" and shaft are different then it should be easy. I've had the adapter off before and I don't see how it could be 4 hours...maybe for total r&r but...

Help: I can't get my #@##$$%%^^&&^$fan clutch off

I made a tool...but you could probly just back one of the pulley bolts out and stick a box wrench around it. Rotate the water pump pulley clockwise till the wrench hits the crankshaft pulley. Now you should have it locked enough to get the reverse threads loose. At least that is what the tool...

GearVendors Install question - Need Help

It looks about like what I have. Is there a cab cross member above the gv adapter. If it clears yours it must clear my '92. Nice short shaft. ;Sweet Glad everything worked out ok.

    need TC help!

Does the shift lever go back and forth easily now? Maybe something broke in the linkage? On my 1356 you have to push the lever down to get past 4wd hi. And you might have to push it down to get out of low range? All I know is mine was stuck like heck and I broke the pin that forced you to...

GearVendors Install question - Need Help

I haven't mounted mine yet. I still have to figure out which route I want to go and then get that right adapter. And that WON'T be cheap...$850-$1000 exchange. :backoff So let me know how your driveline turns out. That is the easiest route. Then all I need is the bw1356 adapter.
