one thing I have been wanting to try and do is get the d-gas bottle mounted higher. the hood has always been in the way, so now that I have the hood scoop I was able to mount it up much higher. you can also see in some of the other pictures the location of it.

I still need to make the sides for it and smooth out some of the other metal that is in the way.

Don't get me wrong, I came real close to doing exactly that in reverse for a cowl induction. I think it's going to be cool and I'll bet there's not another one like it. Lol

honestly I think a cowl hood would look a little better. not that I don't like the look of my hood scoop, but it is very different. I am just more concerned of it doing the job I want it too, give the IC enough air to be efficient.

I'm really anxious to see all this in person. All of us that I'm aware of with this turbo have done it a little different. I love to see how other people approach and solve problems. The top side IC never crossed my mind.

the biggest problem you will have is keeping the engine clean.
my hood is functional, and small. and my engine is dirtier than a crack ***** giving free blow jobs on prom night

an update for yall.

I have been getting some headway on the IC and plumbing it. its pretty close to being done but its on the side for a bit.

I finally got the last fitting in for the turbo so I was able to finish all the coolant hoses. its a tite fit in the back at the firewall but I was able to use a piece of formed heater hose to make the bend.

once all the coolant hoses were together I filled it up with water to check for leaks. so far so good, it holds pressure and there aren't any bubbles.

for now I rigged up a hose to hook up the turbo to the motor. yesterday I got to run it for a while and was able to top off the coolant and trans fluid. today I got to finally take it out of the shop and drive it around the lot. I still need to finish the right side exhaust, but that is the next thing on the list.

first thing is, it sounds AWESOME. the exhaust note has no more rasp to it, it almost sounds just like a 7.3 PSD. the turbo is really loud and seemed to make boost quick. I could only go into 1st 2nd 3rd gear but it made 10 LBS in no time. I cant wait to get it on the road.....

as always I will post some pictures latter..........

Well I sold my stock hypermax turbo so it looks like I'll be upgrading as well. I'm curious to see how you like it, and I'm really excited to see it in person!

I still have more to do but I have been driving the truck for the past few days. the exhaust is all finished up and is working good. I still don't have the IC hooked up yet but I haven't taken it out on the high way yet so I haven't held enough boost for a long time to notice a difference anyway.

a general overview so far.... the blow by is well over half the amount I used to have which is good. the cooling system is doing good, it has been pretty warm lately and the hottest it has gotten was maybe 200*. the only thing I am not too happy about is the front crank seal has a small leak. I am sure its the rubber part of the seal because I can see the oil drip line from close to the shaft of the balancer. it seems to have lessen the leak but it is on the watch list, at least it would be pretty easy fix...

il try to answer everyone's questions.

the turbo seems to spool quick and it goes when you get on it. for example: at 1,500 rpm with some throttle it will make 4 lbs of boost and no smoke. I really haven't totally floored it but, in 3rd gear I did accelerate and very quickly got way past 15 lbs. I still have the old banks gauge and it looked like I might of hit 17-18 lbs. like I said it wasn't to the floor nor max rpm maybe 2,500 rpm or so. at this point I think 20 lbs will be doable and I have a 90cc pump.

also it seems have more lower end power then before. I would think at a dead stop it might be a little slower on the boost then the banks but will smoke it on the top end. I really want to get it on the highway to test the boost then but I feel with no IC it wont be very effective.

feel free to ask any other questions, I might just have the answer.

So are you happy with how quick it spools, or would you go one size tighter on the exhaust turbine housing? I am almost positive I'm getting one now, but it all depends how much I spend on this rebuild.

not sure if this is a good comparison, a friend of mine has a mildly tuned OBS 7.3 PSD that I have driven a good amount. that thing takes forever to build boost. I really sense no lag at all, if there is its almost minimal. its almost hard to get it to blow any smoke.

yes, I would say im happy with it. I think you could go a little bigger on the exhaust and it would still spool pretty quick.
