Having some lack luster performance out of my 085 turbo low power high egts
Justin recommend I out a .68 AR housing on vs the stock .96 should wake it up a lot and most importantly down low

4psi is all I’d see driving normally 10psi MAX didn’t want to really make much for power til 2500
Horrible egts towing up hill
This is with a 90cc pump and r and d cam

Biggest challenge with new exhaust housing is the need to make a new custom down pipe

Incoming rant

If you know anything about the 085 kit the down pipe is a slip fit cast into the turbo just horrible.

Getting this apart was pure hell had to sawzall the down pipe in 2 becuase it wasn’t coming out the way it should, and the turbo and down pipe combo wasn’t coming out in truck in one peice.

Then the turbo comes out first thing great turbine wheel is chipped new one of those, great damaged the compressor wheel on removal new one of those, might aswell do bearing and seals while I’m in there

The exhaust housing was so rusted/ seized every bolt snapped or had to be cut off

Then to get the turbine wheel and heat plate out of the housing I had to heat it up as hot as oxy acetylene could get it and and whale on it with a hammer.

So went from a quick day project to now going to be atleast 2 weeks and a whole turbo rebuild but oh well that’s the way it goes

So that’s my rant LOL

Waiting on parts currently but am excited to see what this will do for it

Will keep updated as progress continues and parts arrive

Nice. Have wanted to do this for a long time.
Everything about the 085 sucks to deal with, atleast now it will spool. Wonder what it will make for boost?

Was the turbins wheel chipped before you took it apart? Before I intercooled mine, I had no problem hitting 14ish with a maxxed turbo pump. Spoolup wasnt terrible either, but I did have up pipes and down pipe wrapped.

Up pipe will be wrapped before it’s done, yes the turbine wheel was chipped before.

All finished up
Down pipe was harder to make than I thought but it’s more just time and patience

14 psi seems to be what it hits now but more importantly it spools and works down low ALOT better feels like how a diesel should

Don’t be scared of turbos they are alot easier than they seem

@IDIoit should take notes on your welding skills..

All jokes aside, glad its working better. A birdsh!t weld is better than no weld as long as it holds.
Oh yea welds are disgusting, have a long way to go LOL
It doesn’t leak and it fits thats what matters in my book
