I can understand that! I couldn't have him do all of that to my truck. I'd be afraid to drive it. I'd also probably try to figure out how to get it inside my bedroom so I could sleep with it at night! Take that how you want to.LOL

My wife just cannot understand why I love my truck so much. I think I need to tell her I have spent more money on her !

I don't know if that's a good idea or not. She may not see the humor in that one. If she doesn't, let us know which hospital room you're in so we can send a card.;Poke

I tell her it has to be reliable so nothing keeps us apart. She rolls her eyes, I buy my stuff, every1's happy :D

That's a beautiful looking motor coming together there.

Any concerns with water getting anywhere as far as the valley pan goes? Mine is in desperate need of the same, I have just been too chicken to take a hose to it....
I didn’t use any water, just a light spray of purple power and a scrub brush/shop rags to clean it up. I’m not a fan of spraying any engine down with a hose

Moved the fuel pressure sensor onto the other oultet of the regulator and plumbed the fuel lines up. The sensor harness was too short to run it in a clean way across the front of the engine, so I took the extra lighting harness that came with the replacement boost gauge and used it to lengthen the original harness. They both used the same 3 pin harness so it was pretty simple. I made the connector removalble to make it a bit easier to snake through the firewall.

Then took a diesel shower and installed the new fuel pump with new hardware. Of course forgot to install the check valve while I was under there so I’ll still get a chance to get diesel down the arm again. Not my favorite job haha but nice to have a good pump that will supply the fuel pressure this new ip is gonna need.

Next took a piece of stainless stock and bent it up for a special job

On a lot of these trucks the hood release will be broken because it’s held in place by that dinky plastic panel that goes in the kickpanel, and to replace it you have to replace the whole cable assembly, so what I do whenever these are broken is build this little cable holder to make it so the bracket isn’t needed, and you can release the hood with one hand without the handle flopping around and getting caught in the door

While I was down there I noticed the dipstick was sticking up a bit and was leaking. I pulled it out and found no nuts under the bracket, and no o ring on the dipstick. I installed some new nuts to hold the valve cover down on that side and resealed the dipstick with a new o ring and some black rtv. Should have the IP ready Monday!

However I can't Tig, just stick & MIG.
I understand that. the only kind of aluminum welding that I've ever done was by using a spool gun attachment on a MIG welder. It would do the job, but the beads weren't pretty. I was good enough (lucky maybe?) that I used it once to weld the bellhousing on my girlfriend's (at thee time) 89 Mustang with a 5 speed. The only thing that I couldn't do was to replace the missing piece. She never would tell me exactly what she was doing to make it break in several places like that. Knowing what I do now, hard drugs were probably involved some how.

Wes,

I have the exact problem with my hood latch release pull lever in my van at the kick panel, just like you described.

I thought up till now I'd have no other choice but to replace the entire hood release cable assembly. Now you've given me new hope.

I'm so darn tired of using both hands, one hand, to secure the cable and the other to pull it so it will unlatch like it used to OEM, one handed.

You have given me a starting point, now tomorrow, I'll have to rummage thru my spare parts/junk buckets to find some metal and a self tapping screw, unclip the kick panel and kick plate and "git er' done".

Thank Wes, for the description, picture and the simple, but effective and less costly cable secure innovation !!!!

Wes, I'm having a "lighbulb moment". This is another marketing idea, sell this fix in a "hood latch repair kit". Bingo! A simple fix and probably cheap to bag up a hundred and put a price for it, on your new website. Millions of Ford truck owners would thank you [emoji16]
