I hate them because they're so ubiquitous around here and generate so much smug pollution.
They're fully electric, though. To me that makes a difference. A diesel is significantly more efficient than a gasoline engine. However, an electric motor is more efficient than a diesel. I like efficiency.
My biggest problem with Teslas is the range limitation. For me, a prerequisite for any vehicle is that it needs to be able to make it from the Bay Area to Los Angeles without any issue. I used to use that metric to determine if a vehicle was worth keeping based on its reliability (or lack thereof), but the Tesla falls under this because of its range and time to recharge. Get the recharge time (or battery swap time) down to the equivalent of a typical fuel-up and, money aside, I would be much more open to the idea. As it is, I'll stick with my TDI and my IDI
