Here is a killer deal on E-Bay...$9.89.
But they killed the deal with $22.45 shipping.

What is more important, Price, or micron efficiency?

Here is the Donaldson Blue 99% @ 10 Micron. Though a bit more in cost. Made for the Cat Engines but used on the Power Strokes.

To me, micron efficiency is more important. I put close to 20,000 miles a year on trucks, so oil changes are frequent, but I am happy to pay to protect my engine. Better filters is better engine life.

Keep checking Ebay. I got lucky last year and got a case of P559127 for $78.06 total, shipped. ($6.50 ea.)

Anyone know the Walmart fram XG or TG filtering capabilities? Guess I should check their website....

BITOG says 99% at 20 Micron. With the more expensive filter having a synthetic medium. But even at 5k OCI the paper media will serve just fine.

Fram's website seems to say that "Extra Guard" (the cheaper one) is 95% filtration efficiency at 20 micron, while the "Tough Guard" is 99% at 20.

Whoa, @Goat sent me down the rabbit hole with the Beta numbers. While I’m sure unintentional on his part, my psychotic masochistic mind rubbed it’s hands together with an evil grin!!

I think I’ll just drive more and worry less and just buy a filter off the shelf when the time comes. Hopefully on sale of course

Have always changed oil filters at every OCI but this has me wondering if there's any room to reuse the filter now. For my IDI I do about 3-4k miles OCI (between the 2.5 and 5k recommendations) and add a quart about every 500-800 miles.

Have always bought the 1995-A filters from Wally world and checked recently and they've gone up in western wa too.

Guess I'll continue using Kirkland 15-40 which is usually about $32 for 3 gal which helps offset the increased filter cost a bit.

Kirkland 15-40 is $39 here. They have a sale on it once in a while and I buy maybe 4 box`s.
Iam using a qt every 600 miles or so.

Do you just change the filter every 5k and keep the oil full? I like this “constant changing” of oil.

I had a sbc that used around that much. I just kept the oil full. Daily morning ritual just like coffee :rotflmao

Hi in the Cascades, Nearly- Redmond,Oregon
I wait till Carol goes sleep then get up quietly & go get my dirty used 1995-A oil filter, my other dirty parts, my pistol gun parts that I'm cleaning up, very carefully & quietly load them in the dishwasher.....has worked for years! LOL LOL

No seriously though, I was at WallyWorld yesterday (Redmond, Or) and the 1995-A was much more than double price. The Fram TG3786 was $15.95 & Fram cheaper ones was $11.95. Wonder when Fram going up too?
Hummm, maybe .......get a bicycle? LOL

@ttman Do you have pictures of your Frantz setup? I've got a couple of those as well as a few of the Motorguard units. Looking for a good spot to mount a couple, I like your idea of using them in series.

In case anyone didn’t know, you can get the older FL174s for pretty cheap on rock auto. Gonna pay for shipping but if you buy in bulk, you’d still probably save over buying the same amount of the 1995s.

It's $13 from O'Reilly's, but you have to call ahead and have the store order them.

1995 is $20. A good bit cheaper than Walmart and it's usually kept in stock on the shelf, but still twice what it used to be.

@BlindAmbition I'll get some pics later this morning. Will try to figure out how to draw/mark things on the pics too. I have never been able to learn how to do marks & draw on my pics. When it comes to "buttons" I R dumb.....
