I've used their cleaner and contact enhancer on electronics before, never thought of using it on power stuff, but I'm sure it would work.

Are you still running the original direct drive starter? If so, there is a place to oil the nose of the starter. But the starter has to be off the truck to do it. Rockauto has a picture here. You can barely see the bump that is the oil port on the top of the nose of the starter.

You must be registered for see images attach

I finally realized the oil port was there when I changed my direct drive starter for the last time. I installed a gear reduction starter that I found a link for on the internet. The gear reduction starter has no problem spinning the engine fast enough to start it. You do have to change the solenoid activation wire connector, I found that to be no big deal.
Just for clarification, this is not a direct drive starter. If you look at one you will notice that the motor is offset from the drive. There are in fact gears in there for gear reduction.

The direct drive starter was an old delco style starter. Looks very similar to a very big old sbc starter.

Here's a picture. It's inline, long, reaches almost to the motor mount. Pretty sure it's direct drive. Other vehicles usurped its place in the shop this weekend, I'll try to get it in there Friday.

In fact, some of the earlier 6.2s used a similar looking Delco starter. The starters were very heavy compared to the other ones in both Ford and GM applications.

Do yourself a big favor and buy or make a top stud before you reinstall or replace your starter. You'll thank yourself when that behemoth is hanging from the top stud as you start all the other bolts with your fingers as opposed to holding it up there and fighting the top bolt which can be tougher than a honey badger. You should measure the top bolt yourself, but it looks like the one I did was 2" long, link attached.

Good luck whichever way you go and stay warm up there.

I left a trickle charger on it all week, and when I went to start it there was no problem. I need to work on other things, so I'm going to hope that the batteries just had a surface charge before, and a deep charge fixed it.
