Hi idi Bob
Your my favorite dark cloud!!
I am looking for a experienced eye to let me know if I am wrong but the pictures don't show the fact that you can still see the faint marks from the tooth grinding process when they were manufactured.
The dark line is not there in real life but the contact is slightly lighter at the outside of the tooth on the drive side and slightly lighter at the inside of the tooth on the coast side.
Which is mirrors the fact that when I got the contact centered top tooth to bottom of tooth I could not bring them to both center across from one another with out going out of the Ford backlash specs.
So if you have the experiance I am quite willing to pay attention to your advise.
If you do the final drive calculation you will find that my first with the s47 transmission and my 4th gear are very close to first gear and 5th gear with the s42 transmission and the 4.10 gearing that you run
While I miss the closer ratios of the s42 in some instances, I will not be wearing out my clutch.
Cheers
