I've used both, cant find cork anymore, so I was wondering if the rubber is better or not?

I use Permatex black silicone and thats it....lay a nice bead down. set the valve cover on and press lightly. Wait about 15 - 20 minutes then torque down enough to make the silicone ooze out a little and thats it....done like dinner and no leaks...

OH YA...make sure that the VC and head are both basically hermetically clean prior to laying on the goo!
