For those of you who have had typ4 rebuild your turbo, how long did it take for you to get your turbo back?

Disclaimer: i am not trying to "bash" anybody with this thread. i am just trying to gain knowledge, which is what this forum is for right?

Contact Russ and ask him what his build time is. Considering that workloads change and that you might not be the first person in line, the most accurate answer will come from the guy doing the work. I've purchased several things from Russ - injector return lines, a set of matched injectors and one of his hi-tork cams. In each case, he got things taken care of, the quality was outstanding and I had what I needed when I needed it. Gotta tell ya, he's an excellent source for parts and rebuilding.

I had Russ rebuild an IP for me. I was extremely impressed with the quick turnaround time. I had my own IP (verified by serial number) back in a week and a half. I was absolutely amazed at the turnaround time and the excellent quality.

As stated, Russ does the work himself on the turbos. If he has five turbos to rebuild it will take longer than if he has only one.

As always, your time may vary.

i have contacted him a number of times. each time, for the past month, has been the same response...."i have some hand blending to finish up and then it will be ready to be shipped out". also each time is " i should be able to get it out tomorrow or the next day". i do understand he has other turbo jobs but be up front and honest for christ sake. this is not a new thing either. he has taken a long time for others as well. i know that his old supplier was sending him bad chra's so that delayed things. I DO APPRECIATE him getting quality parts. that is for sure. honesty is questionable though as well. at first he had 3 turbo jobs, then it went to 6 jobs. he did say his job is taking a lot of his time up. if so don't take on these jobs. believe it or not people actually need their truck everyday.

i just feel like i am being taken advantage of and there is not a single thing i can do about it. i jsut hope i have not wasted my money on the 3" exhaust outlet mod and my exhaust system. in all reality and honesty i will be SURPRISED if i see my turbo sometime this summer. if this goes to long i will just cancel the insurance on my truck and let it sit next to my garage and rot to hell. i have lost ALL faith. i will just buy a new car.

Russ,

i know this is going to seem like i am trying to bash you, but i can not tell you how much i am NOT trying to bash you. i am just wanting to get other peoples return times.

Sounds like a very unfortunate circumstance your in, one which would best be handled directly with Russ instead of here on the forum. This for all intents and purposes does indeed sound different to what you claim it to be. Please work with Russ on this there is truly not much need to waste time here any longer on this thread....

If i read everything right, it sounds to me like handling it directly with Russ, isn't working, which is why he came to the forum.

Yes, I took on too much work and got really backed up, bad parts shipment started a cascade of things. I will be wrapping up all the garrett turbo style wheel mod units this weekend and shipping as they get done.

If there is one standup guy that I have met, its Russ. Perhaps someone can loan you a turbo for the time being until Russ finishes up.

Taking a long time does suck, but he is not taking advantage of you. Hell, when I had Russ do stuff for me I didnt pay until he was done with what he was doing...if thats not stand up I dont know what is.

Are you getting a stock rebuild or modded?

The original posting has me confused. Russ is very good at what he does for us as a forum member. The next time you need turbo work I recommend you try whats out there and compare to Russ. Nothing will compare to what Russ builds. But you as a consumer must try and play the field so you know. Long ago someone was carrying a heavy cross. When they reached a resting place the complaint was the cross was too heavy. The rest stop person said to drop your cross and find a differant one in the rest area. So the complaining guy tried every one and found one that he felt was lighter and said I'll take this one..... Rurns out thats the cross he came in with.... Everybody else had a heavier cross than he did... Sometimes lessons are costly to learn... But at least we learn... I know the original poster will be well satisfied with the Work Russ does...
