I can say that I thought that Progressive gave me a great deal on insuring my Ex Wife. It was $176 for liability, but it turned out to not be that great when I got a renewal notice in 6 months. I didn't renew with them and went with State Farm where I got liability insurance for $172 for 12 months. Plus they didn't have a clause about using it to make money (commercial use).

I won't deal with progressive. Long story short they dropped me because my new truck had a snow plow on it. Didn't matter if it was just sitting in the driveway or not.

The best part? I had been plowing all winter with the other truck they never asked about LOL

Think about this: all over America, RIGHT NOW, there's 90+ yr old men and women driving 40+ft long diesel pushers with their $100K BMW SUV in tow..........they have no special license or training, just $$$$$$$. I'm a professional driver, 41yrs old, good health, married, and I just want a TOW TRUCK @8000lb to drive as my driver. It's literally the exact same as me driving my dually, which I could pull a 40ft goose neck with loaded to the hilt and never be confronted with the insurance question.

BUT you CAN use it to make money. This is the big deal with insurance companies.
I can use a Prius to make money. But I do understand the delema, I just really sucks. I'm probably going to sell the truck, because, like, what am I going to do with it.

I wasn't upset to drop Progressive and now I'm even less upset. I'll just go back to my earlier comment about them being crooks.

It's really socialism in disguise. I'm committed to not ranting about this, it's a subject I'm highly passionate about and I'm currently in the middle of why I STRONGLY disagree with ALL insurance.

I pay about $100 a month for my two OBS Fords. That with pretty decent coverage. Not bad for a young guy. I'm with Geico on my own plan. All my friend pay close to $175-$200, they also drive IDI's or other old stuff. Not sure why I got lucky with my cheap insurance.

We're with progressive and pay $600 for 6mths and that covers KITT, The bronco and the dually. I really don't study the coverage, I just want to pay the least so I can drive. I know IDIbronco's "ex-wife" is a brick nose truck, but based on his statement it almost sounded like it was some type of "commercial" vehicle.

Hey, is your "ex-wife" a tow truck? Or service body of some kind?
but based on his statement it almost sounded like it was some type of "commercial" vehicle.
No she isn't. She has a regular bed with dually fenders. If I get to use her regularly for making money like I'd like to, I will get different/better insurance. Until then, it's regular liability insurance for me.

Well a buddy of mine came over to shoe a horse and his wife volunteered him to help me install a mechanical fuel pump on my crew beast. Don't mind his wave, he's a misguided dodge guy. Didn't want photo evidence he'd driven a real truck lol. We hauled up the canyon twice and blew a head gasket:fan:. So the 12 valve swap I was doing this winter is starting this month.

Well...... Haven't been around much, life ecttttttt.....

Put a new lift pump in after work tonight.
Went to go to work today and she wouldn't kick over. Fired once then nothing.. Popped a fuel line, bone dry after cranking for a few. Tonight opened the feed line and also bone dry after cranking. Glad we now have 2 parts stores in town now.. New Napa pump and back up and running again. First time in 7 years she left me stranded...

Ahhhhh..... the illusive 12v......I was doing a scrap metal run the other day and the guy weighing my stuff asked about why I wasn't in my dually, but that started a conversation about diesels and he told me that he bought a class c motorhome for $3500 that had a 12v backed by an Allison with @60K miles on it! He says he's living in it now and plans to put the drivetrain in the right truck when he finds it. But that's the way to get a 12v, find a motorhome!

Motorhomes are often the most abused vehicles out there. I would never use a motorhome engine in a swap.
We actually have ab old holiday rambler at the shop right now with a 12v that has zero compression... At 83k miles. Rv looks like a total pile, and he's replacing the engine... Cause of that 12v love. Man I don't understand it.
