HAMMER DOWN!
driving to and from the fall idi rally a month ago i averaged 70-80mph and drove it quite aggressively while at the rally and i averaged 15.5mpg.......2wd, 4.10, and E4.
With the Auto and the 4.10's I feel like im screaming down the highway, At 60MPH im at 2k RPM
I have 265/75 tires on the truck
My question is what can I do to help get my RPM's down?
Also, I can't seem to get over the anomaly of IDIDieselJohn getting 16 mpg + out of his 4.10 C6 van turning 2600+ down the highway so I thought maybe there was some other piece of the puzzle that I had not put together yet.
I probably could pull 3.55's, but the 4.10's are probably more appropriate for 33" tires (effectively about a 3.73 ratio compared to a stockish 30" tire) and an average weight of 8000-8500 pounds. Bottom line is that I would go for a E4OD tranny swap before changing out gears in both the front and rear axles. Ironically, the previous owner ran 35" tires and actually regeared to 4.10's because he used the van to tow his travel trailer all the time. It would have been nice to have had the original gears (probably 3.55), but I've at least got the piece of mind that my R&P's are nearly new front and rear. I might go to 35" tires next time around too, though it makes a mighty tight fit in the garage!I am working on figuring out the puzzle too.
With your turbo do you have enough torque to drop to 3.55 gears?
Sorry for the hijack.
