I rip it all out, then insulate the heck out of the floor and put in new jute the vinyl floor no carpet. I don’t like floor mats. But weather tech stopped making them for our trucks so now it’s huskey (pretty affordable) or 3dmatusa. But they are way up in price.

Know a good source on where to get the insulation and vinyl? Never done a floor install on a vehical.

Hey, be careful starting a thread like this. One time, a long time ago, a member ( @Nero ) started a thread called "Cupholders" and his starter post said "so what are you guys doing for cupholders?" And it became a phenomena. Just a warning.

As far as me and floor mats: I have a couple of regular auto parts store floor mats that slide around because I didn't buy them new, but found them in another old vehicle and the little studs on the back are gone. It's hard to beat "free to good home". I have a "Joe Cool Snoopy" floor mat that was in another vehicle I recently acquired that might migrate into the truck. But yeah, just about anything works. I've used pieces of house carpet, cut to size, with good success too. I guess you could tear out all the carpet and do stall shavings and freshen them up every few days, that wouldn't be too bad, reasonably sanitary and you could do ceder if you got bugs. Anyway, that's my contribution to ideas.

It definitely became a big ol shitpost.
I nabbed a few nice ones out of a wrecking yard truck. Just a generic one, but they're red so it matched the carpet.

I was inspired by @Clb to vacuum my truck out, I wasn't as ambitious as him to wash it but I did vacuum it. And while I was there I took a minute to "install" my new old floor mat. It is "period correct" for an 80s truck, and it's cool, "Joe Cool" even, lol.

Here is another "Floor Mat" thread.
At the bottom this thread, scroll the page up to see related threads.

Few yeas back, I ripped out the old Ford vynal floor covering, removed the seats. air chisled off the old Tar pad from the factory. Cleaned the metal good with wax and grease remover.
Cleaned up any rusty areas, then covered the floor, under the seats, back wall , inside the doors with Dyna Matt. then threw in some Rock Auto red Carpet.
Found some Mercedes red Carpet pieces that almost match from PNP. A touch of class. ;Poke

This should be the first thing every one does when they get an old car/truck. I can’t encourage people enough to tear out the seats and floor covering and inspect the floor, repair, do what ever is needed and cover in dynamat or other fake products. It makes such a difference. Even if you re-install your original carpet or vinyl. I all ways get a new vinyl liner. So much easier to clean. But we spend most of our time in dirt and mud so carpet doesn’t work very well.

I had some spots where it rusted through, not large, but POR and some thin Fiber glass, probably could use some cloth, get it good and wet with POR to bridge the area.
Then on the under side, cleaned it, sanded etc...and POR it.
Then when I Dyna matted the inside, used a piece on the bottom
to cover the area.

The front wheels throw rocks/gravel back and it does rock chip the thin paint/primer what ever Ford threw on it, and rust starts.
