Been a long salty winter and my received hitch is done. Wondering if anyone knows a good quality options that fit our trucks well.

Picked up a class 5 from etrailer.com and it's doing great - it's a Curt. the only differences from what i remember are bumper style, my truck has the deep ranch style and was concerned about vertical clearance but got the right one

I put a Reese 96904 Class IV 2" receiver on my 93 IDI Turbo. Was pretty much a direct fit. Also found a nearly new, recent 2024 F450 fifth wheel, gooseneck puck that was direct bolt on with the outside plates. Here's a few pics. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions on putting them on.

Cheers, Pete

offroad-anarchy that's awesome and the first I herd of anyone installing a puck system on an old truck, regardless of the manufacturer. How does the puck system work with your body lift ( I assume that's what the orange blocks are) ?

Those are some custom pucks I made to mount my flatbed. Found a ProTech aluminum flatbed for $1200 and saw that to be the perfect replacement for a badly dented up 8' standard bed. Those are machined from some super beefy UHMW dunnage sticks I found. It looks cool, but was a giant pain in the rear to get on there.

The gooseneck puck has the four holes for a modern 5th wheel attachment, but it's way down in there and right under the main lengthwise channels, so I just have it set up to use a gooseneck. Guys sell those modern pucks cheap when they put on modern flatbed tool boxes to newer trucks and skip the gooseneck / 5th wheel puck.

My only regret with the whole swap, was that I didn't put in a new rear fuel tank, sender and pump when I had it all off. After I got all the filler hoses sorted I found it had rusted through around the flange there and leaks like crazy. Need to drop the tank and put it in from the bottom when the weather gets better.

As you guys know, these older things tend to devolve to the dirt with every part in the truck laying out on the drive before you can put it back together. Never ends it seems :)

Cheers, Pete

I had a Reese class V installed in '94 when I bought a travel trailer. Eight years later while underneath I found a crack in the Reese where it bolts to the frame. I contacted Reese and they shipped me a complete replacement free and never asked for the damaged Reese to be returned. Now, 20 plus years later the replacement is still solid.
