I posted it through tapatalk. Not sure how that actually works though.

One thing for sure, that SOB was not going to come off accidentally. It was all my pneumatic tool wanted to remove it. Must have done a good job installing it.

Well now what's the fun in that.LOL

That's the best part, going on a long drive to a rally in a truck you hope makes it. LOL
That's how i do all my trips, it always seems like I am finishing up some major work right before I hit the road! LOL

Yes we can and it looks like there is an adapter on the old fan that can t be un-screwed using a couple of wrenches. Am I wrong?

it looks like a spacer to me. didn't that truck have a plow? if it was a motor driven pump then the fan needs a spacer to clear the extra belt on the front of the motor.

Yep, I agree with the adapter, is it possible the engine was originally in a bus or something similar?

So update time. Promar sent me a box of 4 pushrods, 2 rocker bolts, and 4 shims. I put a mic on the shims I had. They were 15 thou. The ones they sent were 33 thou. So new push rods doused in oil and dropped in. Reaching back to install the rockers while not dropping the shims was interesting.

Installed bolts and torqued to 27 N m as per my manual. That's 240 inch lbs or 20 ft lbs for us 'mericans. Put it all back together with a couple Hail Marys. Fired it up and it sounds much better obviously. It sounds 'different'. Not necessarily bad but different. Seems like I'm hearing more valve train noise but that might be because the timing doesn't have it rattling quite so much. I ran it a few miles and it seems to be the same or quieter.

I ran by Napa and got a steering box until I have time to deal with red head. Fans blowing on it now to cool it down. We will see if I can get the box changed out tonight.
