Since my truck is up on jack stands, I had to use my Explorer to pick up my camper.. At 5000lbs, it wasn't the easiest 15 miles it's ever made! The camper is in pretty good shape, considering it's age (1978) and everything works, with the exception of the fridge. I was able to pick one up for it, so it'll just be a swap. It also has a 2 year old A/C unit..

It needs some work and a good cleaning, but it's MINE!

Very cool, I bought a 78 camper two years ago, me and some friends ripped out the stuff inside we didn't need to give it more room. Got rid of the queen bed and made two bunks. Did the floor in black and white armstong tile and it makes a perfect race camper for the 12 hours of sebring. Oh yea and we added the 8' X 12' deck on top for viewing the race, gotta have that.

If your camper is 5000lbs I wonder what mine is, mine is 30', I was under the impression it was 5500lb.

I love towing stuff, nothing better than listening to the IDI working hard. Think thats half the reason I look forward to trips.

Some times on those older refers that have been sitting for a long time or run off level, you can take them out and roll them around turn them upside down lay them on their side for a while and it will free up the vapor lock or what ever is wrong, if the coils are broke and the ammonia is gone it's trash, level it up and try running it. I've done this on several and brought them back to life. It's worth a try.

Now, your first job is to get up on the roof and check for cracks in the roofing sealer. Scrape off any old hardened sealer with putty knife/screw driver and replace with elastomeric roofing sealer sold at RV dealers. Don't use silicone.
It's the single most important thing you can do to keep your trailer in good shape over the years.

Very nice Gary. You've got plenty of time to get the fridge going before the rally. Unlike your Explorer, the IDI won't even know that trailer is behind it.;Sweet

Got just what ya need Jared.;Sweet
Tis the 18' Frolic we had at the rally last year. Completly gone thru inside and out. Rubber roof, new carpet, fresh paint, window a/c unit, good tires, furnace works but the fridge, fullsize, has an issue I can't figure out.
Freezer works perfectly, but the fridge area doesn't get cool enoough to my liking. Prolly something simple.

Thanks man! I wasn't sure which sealer to use... The guy I got it from, sealed it 2 years ago.. I still want to make sure it's good myself..

The only reason I didn't get it, was because I didn't think my daughter would be "comfortable" in/with it... Otherwise, I'd have been making a trip to MI for it! She hasn't even seen this one yet, but will like this one whether she does, or not! :backoff

I'm sure of that! Especially, since it'll have the ZF 5 in it!

EMD, that vintage Prowler is one of the best built trailers around. I have a buddy that worked at the factory about that time and he bought one years ago specifically because of the good quality. As said scrape off as much old sealer as possible before applying new. Have fun with it.
