1951 Ford F7. I have exciting plans but have to finish other projects before I can consider starting this one... :(
Being red, and the 2 Spot lights, was thinking maybe it was a Fire Truck in it`s younger life.

Going to throw in a IDI?
That would speed her up.

Would like to do something bigger but it's looking like an IDI is all that's going to fit without cutting. Would like to eventually hop one up with a big pump and an R&D turbo kit, would like to get around 300hp (plan on hauling with it).

DT466 would be ideal but I'm pretty sure they're too long without hacking into the cab.

Pretty sure it was a fire truck, there's traces of a name on the doors.

Decided to toy around with the 94 idit I picked up over the weekend, did a compression test, about 350 across the board except #7, 150psi. What's odd is some holed would build to 180, then get stuck... Then all of a sudden spike to 350. Wonder if valve seats are crummy, or if piston rings are sticky. Once they 'unstuck' and jumped, they kept going to 350 afterwards each time.

Also tested the glow plugs, one is bad.
Tried to read the cracked odometer, 330k.

Anyways, tried to prime the fuel system, got fuel to the pump, solid 5psi lift pump running out of a bucket.. Nothing out of the injection pump... Pulled the pump return fitting, full of rust. :fan:

Major cutting is defiantly going to be required to fit a DT466 in. I got away with slipping a 300 I-6 into my '51 F1 (same size engine bay as your F7), without any firewall surgery. It did require pushing the rad about an inch forward and running electric fans - see mock-up photo below. A DT466 is about 10 inches longer than a 300.

Looking at FrozenMerc`s picture below, that is a pretty tight engine compartment.

yeah R@D has some pretty engines that would drop right in.
Bling Bling $$$. Plus a little massaging.....-Showtits

Finally replaced my drivers side door that had been folded open before I bought it. Now I am really going to have to learn how to paint the beast. Also turns out a 1986 F150 door fits perfectly on a 1993 f350 once you modify the arm rest mount...

With our rally trip 3 days away, I had to remove the ac conversion off list. Took fan out and found critters had made nests all through HVAC ducts. Spent a lot of time between compressed air and vacuum getting it all out. Still going to get a new fan, this one seems tired from fighting rodents.
Smoked HVAC lines to make sure I had gotten all lines replaced or repaired properly.
Going to put the new vacuum pump in

Steve got me the 18v Milwaukee grease gun and it made greasing this truck snout to tail so quick!

Picked up the paint and once sun drops a bit lower will tape it off and let daughter try it out.

I think other than cleaning that puts me in a good spot for Wednesday!

Also got shirt design approved and will start cutting vinyl for that. Have a tiny surprise I'm going to try to make happen for the rally, fingers crossed!

Tonight I got the Ol' Boy back together. Had to re-seal the valve cover and freed up a stuck injector. Got it started and everything looked good, sounded good so I took it for a drive. Got on the highway and rolled it down the road about 70 mph. Boost getting on the highway would go a little over 10 psi but I didn't push too hard. EGT was 700 degrees when cruising 900 when excellerating. Oil pressure good engine coolant temp good. The fuel pressure could be better but I am just running the stock mechanical pump (like ford by gawd designed it :) ) Drove around highway and city street for about an hour. Shifts good, brakes are good, runs good and no leaks! I am really happy with it. Now I just need to finish the front bumper and get it licensed.

I wish he had stayed long enough to see the culture of this forum was not the same as other forums, where someone posts something and everyone says awful things and tears each other up.

I think most of us came here and stay here because we aren't interested in the negative nonsense that seems to be the norm of other forums.

Most here genuinely want to help and even when one of us posts something that's been talked about over and over, people usually try to be patient or just ignore it.

I hope he rage quit and when he calms down he sees that everyone was gently trying to hint to him that maybe give his advice without the added attack and insult while giving that advice.

Our calm culture may be due to no one having asked the biggest tire you can fit without a lift or what is the best oil heehee

I'm regretting my slightly oversized tires as my cc long bed already had the turning radius of a bus and now with a trailer I'm like a big fat whale unable to get out of a Walmart parking lot haha

Making mine a crew cab long bed dually 4x4 I definitely feel like a land yact sometimes.
As for idibobs, I wouldn't have minded it if he wasn't so condescending about doing any type of mods to improve our trucks. Ain't no way Ford's engineering was the absolute best. Especially when the engine was made by Navistar... Half the fun here is learning what each other has done for funsies, for longevity, for basic-ness... I'll never run wmo in mine, but I got mad respect for @Jesus Freak, I bet he saves so much dosh by just tapping his fuel suction line into his oil pan, and just tops off his engine every few miles ;Poke
