So what did you do with your truck today?

If I read this right, and you still have 1/4 tank, when the gauge shows empty, I'd just run it by the gauge. That way you'll never run out of fuel. My Bronco would read empty at about 1/2 tank. I filled up when it read empty and I never had to worry about running out of fuel. Plus I knew that I could push it farther if I REALLY had to. I look at it as cheap insurance.
Sorry about my wording but I have the more dangerous problem, my tank is bone dry (still haven't put any fuel in) and its reading just under a 1/4. :(

I know I'm going to have to drop the tank and bend the bar a little. However life is really trying to get in the way of working on my truck, between a heat wave, seven search and rescue call outs over the last five days, thirty hours of rope rescue technician training starting Friday, and just having my normal pay the bills job, I am just going to run the forward tank for a bit.

@Trouzt I am not gonna say this would be your experience but, after I replaced my rear tank recently mine didn't read correctly but I figured I would run it. Once I fueled it up it worked as it should. I am not suggesting you fill it but even if it doesn't read right. You still have the forward tank for backup.

Where do you do your training? Have you ever been to "Disaster City" at TEEX? I have done some rescue, industrial firefighting and HAZMAT Technician training at TEEX.

@DougBoy66 I have a label maker here at work and was just thinking I might just put a sticker under the selector switch saying something like "REAR TANK NO LOWER THAN 1/4"....

All of my SAR training has been in the PNW. When I was working in merchant marine for the department of defense, I got sent to Texas and Alabama a lot for fire fighting school (spray me down with that AFFF) and to "learn to shoot real good" (their words). Never made it to TEEX. I'm with a county team here in Oregon and we do Rescue3 certified rope classes mostly at fire station towers and the woods around Mt Hood. Between my truck and SAR, I work just to be able to afford to rescue people... My wife says I spend way to much to get the "privilege" of saving people...

Well thank you for what you do! I train alot hoping to not have to use it. I work in the industrial chemical biz so we have a small ERT on site. We are working on getting different foam there. But yeah I have been baptized in it LOL

Had to take a break from the heat. Getting motorhome and truck ready for rally, leaving first thing in morning. And I am ABSOLUTELY NOT a morning person, so I need to be able to crawl out of bed and into driver seat haha. So everything needs to be done tonight.

{{{I'm also simultaneously doing rear wheel bearings on a tundra and confirming a head gasket leak on a renegade, want both done before I go!}}}

I included pictures of my lists. I'm ********** ADHD and as I get old I'm getting worse with memory and focus, and these lists have been an absolute life saver! It might be time to look into medication haha

Anyway, the box of wires is my super embarrassing accumulated rats nest of wires from 2011 when I got this truck to now. I replaced them all with a remote mounted fuse block. I wish I had done this way sooner. It feels good to get everything neat and eliminate all these wires and my terrible wiring skills of 14 years ago!

My evaporator is a mess and I think my compressor doesn't want to compress the new r134a anymore. I got 1 summer out of it. So I have put off AC overhaul.

I did make sure my fan was fresh and new and found 1 more cracked vacuum line.

For vehicles 20 years old ish I really like the silicone vacuum line. I frequently replace all existing lines with it for people and my own collection. But for some reason I don't really like it for this truck. I plan on replacing all vacuum lines with a thinner wall line and trying to match factory colors for my own sanity. If that's possible!

I also added rear USB ports for the kids.

So now my cb, light bar and USB lights are all neat and safe.

I also need to figure out how to make photo file sizes small enough for this forum

What if he was literally one of the engineers that designed our trucks and all of our modifications are tearing him apart inside
I guess now we'll never know. He did say that he was a mechanic, not a designer or engineer though.
