I'm thinking about putting a 90 on it, but it's only temporary until I get my turbo back from Russ and everything else sorted out. Going to be pulling 10-12k on Sunday so figured I might as well try it now, every little bit helps!

I installed a new Fram CA3501 air filter today and now the top of the air cleaner will not seal up like it should. It seems the Fram is 1/4 inch taller than the old STP 3501 filter. What gives?

just an idea, but the air filters used in International IDI medium duty trucks and buses is slightly taller than ford trucks. Possibly the part number got mixed up when ordering,

It's possible I guess. All I know is it's making a heck of a lot more engine noise with the top not sealing to the bottom of the air cleaner like it's supposed to.

If it's not sealing, and it is the wrong filter, you should put the old one back in until you get the correct filter.

I think he's saying the lid is sitting higher than the bottom half of the filter housing. Kinda like flipping the lid on the old carb air cleaners.

Ahh, I misread that. I was thinking it wasn't sealing on top at all, but I was barking up the wrong tree, lol.

I know that it's a little bit late, since these weren't from today, but I was WAY too tired after my weekend camping trip to even think about posting anything last night. We were up in the Nebraska Sand Hills. It's pretty and pretty desolate country.

Well, I didnt do it today...but a few days ago I used my IDI to pull home an 81 flareside I found for 600 bucks. Has 4x4, 460 big block and c6. Hell, I just wanted it for the rear fenders and bed.

Not I have 2 bullnose 4x4 flaresides.

The Cub Scouts were bringing cans to the recycling center yesterday and they ended up with a lot more than they thought they had. I borrowed a skid steer trailer from someone at work and helped them haul the cans. The wind was pretty intense (~30mph + gusts), and on the trip North with the empty trailer I think the truck was working pretty hard. I didn't see much for smoke, only when battling a gust or tunneling from shelter belts, etc. , but the EGT readout was in the low-mid 900s at 60mph. I'm not sure that's normal for an NA engine, but either way the truck answered the call of duty.

Hauling the trailer back South was mid 600s at 70mph.

Good rule of thumb I saw on the powerstrokes forum, MPH x 10 = EGT .

Grabbed a rusty spare rim for the trailer, cleaned it up and painted it. I'll get a new tire to replace the bald one and keep the bald one for a spare. You can see the air through the cracks in this tire o_O

I decided it was a good day to finally clean the truck out. Found the last piece of the old grille with the missing snap!

I've posted it before, but I'm going to share it again. I noticed how well these screens catch bugs and keep them out of the radiator. I intend to have one on every vehicle I'm able too. The radiator in the truck at work is packed with bees and the fins are all bent. Don't need to worry about it with this!
