FS6 compressor rebuild help?

A factory built mount to run two A/C compressors was once available. It was for small reefers mounted on F350 and FSuperDuty Chassis. It was like an aftermarket PTO part. I had a picture of the set up. The York or Tecumseh for the ****** (or the air compressor in this discussion) went where the factory compressor was, then the original AC compressor sat on top of it. If I were doing all that I would switch the AC compressor to a very common and cheaper Sanden.

That's pretty neat. I may have to see if my google-fu is strong enough to find anything about it.

I don't know if you can say I "rebuilt" my fs6, but I did order a kit, and put a new front seal in it. It was working fine but had a leak. I remember pulling the front and replacing the main shaft ceramic seal and the front gasket. I left the rear of it alone. It seems to be working fine so far.

If you have a catastrophic failure, most shops replace the condensor in front of the radiator, the dryer and the orifice tube. The compressor pushes everything in that direction, and it would be difficult for anything really large to get through the screen in the orifice to the evaporator core. And of course flush the flexible lines.

let us know how it works, i found another "looks good" used one and put that in. i was always curious about rebuilding one though.

I couldn't in good conscience reuse my compressor. It was full of rust and I could have ordered the parts but another $50 for the rest of the parts I need for the compressor plus another $15 for the clutch bearing.... I found a rebuilt compressor for $140 shipped on eBay.

I did however document as much of the rebuild/teardown as I could.

Yeah but I'm trying to be optimistic. The only thing not being replaced is the pressure relief valve on the compressor manifolds, and the wiring itself. EVERY other component will be new. I shouldn't have to worry about more than a bad belt for SEVERAL years.
