I have an autozone "lifetime warranty" in mine. I went this route 'cause I turn my own wrenches & I've done several of these, so it's a pretty easy job for me, also; the junkyard units I looked at all had excessive play. If you buy a reman I would go to every Autozone (or O'reillys, car quest, NAPA, whatever) in your area and ask them to bring out every unit they have, bring a pair of big channel locks & a piece of rubber/leather to turn the input shaft with. Some of them have excessive play right out of the box, the one you want will have no perceivable play, as soon as you turn the input the output starts to turn. If the seals were installed right, it has a good chance of working out for you provided you are using stock tires, chassis height, and mostly highway use. If you have big tires, are lifted, do a lot of off-roading you NEED A RED HEAD.
Also check your drag-link, they are a weak spot on our trucks.
