Only use the Ford or International thermostat. Its a 192 degree stat and the only one that will flow enough coolant to keep these motors cool. Your having this kind of cooling problem. Not getting enough coolant flow. The best fan clutch comes from MS Tech in Babylon New York. They modify them to engage at 21o. The stock Ford ones sometimes engage at 240:eek:... Not good. A 3 row dimple core radiator will not keep these motors cool either. Also the fin count on the cores is important to. At least 13 or 14 fins per inch is required. 12 wont do it either. Most aftermarket radiators are low fin count. Usually 12 fins per inch.... Buy the correct thermostat and install it first.... Then post back the results. I'm about 100 miles north of you and may be able to lend a hand if needed....:D

my therostat is from local autoparts i do not know manufacture.

Some recommend only the use of the stock style stats. I have ran both and did have problems with the none stock looking type. now Jim LuckyLarue ran an autoparts style and didn't NOT have problems.

i have been told there is a 2nd termostat on these motors but the person that gave me this info could not tell me where it is so i dont know whats the deal with that.

Nope there is only one and it's in the upper water neck that is a common misnomer with some of the parts books. I think maybe some of the industrial settings for these engines called for a second one but not sure. I do know that in the Ford truck wrapper they only used the one.

i use differnt temp pick ups stock is at water pump ISSPRO at driverside above header
Could my sender be picking up heat from headerit is an electronic sender?

Do you have it mounted around the corner in the plug for the overtemp sender? If so then yes it will read warmer there because in the other passages you get some mixing with cooled coolant - if it's in the head (around the corner of the head) then you are seeing only the coolant from the head area.

I envy you guys with your clean engines, I've used 12 cans of engine brite and pressure washed the thing 4 times in the last 2 weeks and I STILL have grease and oil buildup
