After some research, I found a few sources saying that 140° should be max fuel inlet temp for the 6.5 GM diesel, which uses a fairly similar injection pump.

Aaand now it’s time for me to order a fuel cooler lol
Dang, that max temp lower that I would expect. Especially given your tested temps already! Good idea to cross-check the 6.5 GM tech.

Wes talked about having a big single loop cooler, like a power steering deal. But the trans cooler type would be good till winter. Then cover it up or put in a bypass that eliminates that loop till next spring.

I'm bringing this thread back up so I can make some input. At first, I wasn't really buying into it. Now, while running a know worn IP, I've seen something that made me a 100% believer. Two times now, within about the last 1 1/2 months, while transferring fuel into the front tank that I'm running on, I've seen a rise in fuel pressure. Not huge, but both times, it was 1 1/2-2 PSI. The fuel in my rear Bronco tank was cooler than the fuel in the front tank that had been circulating through the IP and injectors for over an hour in hot ambient temperatures.
The rise in fuel pressure also got me to wondering if cooler fuel would extend the life of the IP and injectors somewhat. That part seems to make sense to me. Hotter fuel would cause more internal parts expansion (at least in the IP) which would cause more/faster wear. At least that's my theory, right or wrong. Either way, I'm going to look into a fuel cooler to install on my truck since I'm planning to install my new CDD IP and injectors. I might as well spend a little more money and try to extend their life.

Well
Looking at asphaltiens, (when hot fuel hits a cold tank) there is a point of concern.

Spent many years trying to get the fuel as warm as possible, burning wmo mix, but now burning very little to no wmo, has me considering adding a cooler.
