Got a line on a '84 f250 6.9 t19 single can 2wd truck. Guy wants 250 for the truck 330 delivered to my driveway.

Supposedly:

Tranny is good and shifts into all gear
IP and injectors are recently rebuilt
Engine has less than 200k

Now the bad...
Not too fond of the how delicate these earlier 6.9s are compared to my 7.3s
I dont have time away from my two jobs to go look at it
He says he can get it started using either... oh great... good signs...

and finally,

"the engine block leaks a little oil"

Oh and heres what it looks like:rotflmao

really depends on what you plan on using it for.

Probably worth that much in scrap weight. 6.9s with studs are pretty good, and cavitation isn't quite as bad. Pistons are a lot cheaper too.

I'd take it for the price.
Beat the hell out of it til it quits. Or fix and resell it.
I'm sure the glowplugs are dead.

Total hunk of crap. I'll help you out and take that delicate 6.9 engine, the trans and the pedals off your hands for, say, half what you are paying for the whole thing. But you have to throw in that sweet grill and ship it all. :sly

Hard to go wrong for the price on that. I would fix it and drive it. Park it next to priuses. Why not

Looks like a farm truck by the brown dirt under the hood. The ca belt is gone as is the high pressure ac hose to the accumulator. There is no vacuum hose connected to the power brake booster so you do not have power brakes. Really should not drive it that way either. Not sure why the air filter is missing but you might want to ask about that. If its been missing for a long time.. Deal breaker. Engine is probably just a core is the filter has been gone for long time. Bite the bullit and purchase it. This has more parts than the asking price.

Is that the early block that likes to crack around the block heater?

FWIW,
I was in the same boat as you, got an 85 F250 4wd SC LB for 100 bucks and a steering column.
I sold a lot of items, dirt cheap. and made my cash back. but I still had a truck in my way! lol
my cousin ended up wanting some items off of it, so I told him to bring the fam up, and well bbq and help me strip the truck...
sent him home with a long bed dually full of parts I didn't want LOL
if you got the room, buy it, if you need the parts, get it, if 330 is spareable, take it!

hell I got a free bull nose front end out of the deal! lol

Bullnose* lol I needed sleep... I'm thinking about pulling the engine out and seeing if it is indeed a cracked block like the owner thinks, if so, probably will just part the truck out on here and save what I need. He told me today that the exhaust is a "custom dual exhaust" so I may be able to use that or some of it on my truck, pipe in place of the muffler sounds good but theres more power to be had...

If that engine is good, its going in my '71 flatbed and getting compounds eventually just another sitting project truck..

You know that one project truck thats sitting next to the 81 f100, the '63 D100/D300, the '43 Chevy, and the '49 Plymouth, you know... That one.

So many projects, so little time

but hey as long as the exhaust doesn't leak and your truck doesn't sound miniature steam engine, I won't nock it. Especially since people these days prefer to pay for expensive brand exhausts sound worst than what your friend's friend who took three weeks of welding class can build in a night and a pack of cold ones. cookoo
