Is there supposed to be a gasket between the intake and the air cleaner assembly?

All 3 of mine do.

I forgot once to put the one back on on my 6.9 motorhome, and it made the most annoying sound in higher RPM's. I had to put it back on!

Mind you, the engine is right beside you in the cab of a van.....

All stock engines had two air cleaner gaskets. The rubber gasket for the top bolt is the needed one and the gasket between the intake ahd the filter case is one easily found for any 4 barrel carb engine. All fake auto parts stores have the gasket.
