Is it a problem to have the positive and negative cables run side by side with no air gap?

Here in Toronto I we have Canada Welding Supply. Got “ToughFlex” welding cable by Kalas. 4/0 6’, 2/0 16’ all for $190 CND.

Thanks for the all the insight! I’m fairly confident on the cable I bought, EDPM Class K wire, plus no refunds. I’ll be sure to run it securely. My van has a few hangers like you described I can reuse, I’ll add some extra harness tape to soften them up, the factory rubber is worn.

My cable has 30 gauge wire. So I should be up to the +900 wire count like you mentioned.

Copy that! I’ll only be fusing my 3G alternator and DC-DC charger. Leaving the starter and accessories factory setup. Thanks!

Also last question. The starter trigger wire, is there an amp draw, I have plenty of 14gauge wire for this, looks like factory is about 12g, wondering if it’s even pulling amps, if so how much
Yes, the solenoid coil definitely uses some power. That is why your starter switch or starter section of the factory ignition switch has some hefty contacts. Off the top of my head I would guess around 10 amps.
And then you have the kick back voltage from the solenoid coil when you take the power away. That is rough on the switch contacts also, causing them to arc a little bit.

All that being said, looking at the distance you need to run it, 14 gauge should work ok for that circuit.

I think you are referring to the solenoid that extends the armature into the twist plate or flywheel depending on transmission? Yes there is a draw. If you use 12AWG stranded and protect it with a 20A inline fuse you will be okay.
The big power draw is through that 4/0 that drives the starter motor after the armature is engaged.

According to Ron Francis custom wiring tips, the primary ground connection is the engine block using a copper cable and then to the frame and also to the body. I hope this helps.
