The most we have hauled was in a 73 F-250 2wd, 390 RC. We didn't have a trailer, everything had to go in the bed.
One load was firewood, It was cut and neatly stacked front to rear and side to side as high as the cab. It was fresh cut oak and "hard maple"
The other was a completely filled 550 gallon, in bed water tank. "Max" capasity was 550 gallons but that was at the full mark, we filled it till it was running out ot of the top. Figure 575 to 600 gallons of water. 8lbs per gallon X 600 Gallons = 4800lbs of water + the tank, platform and valving. Probally at least 5000lbs in the bed.....
A normal load in this truck was a 1972 IH Cub Cadet 149 with a tiller. We tilled gardens in the spring and that was in the bed every weekend for probally 2 months each spring. The tractor and tiller is 1000 - 1100 lbs. + supporting equiptment.
