Sometimes you won't hear the boost leak. Especially not at those pressures.
No a 7.3 psd or even a 6.0 psd will be loud as hell with an exhaust leak.

There's only two places boost could leak right? The snail to turbo joint and the manifold seal?

Too bad there's so many exhaust joints lol

Yeah, an exhaust leak you should be able to hear.
But those are easy, just feel around them and see if your hand comes backs covered in soot.
The snail to intake is usually the common leak point.

OK all here's what I've been thinking.

Point #1: I have run the poo out of this truck in n/a condition. You have to if you're going to get anywhere.

Point #2. I turned the fuel screw up soon after getting the IP and injectors rebuilt.

Point #3. I recently installed a turbo. I have not adjusted the fuel screw. At the same time I installed a pyro and boost gauge as well. My egt can reach 1100 degrees empty. I see a max of about 8psi of boost. The wastegate hose is unhooked and plugged.

If I'm getting so hot with a turbo, how did I not melt it down while na????

I'm going to double check for boost leaks Monday.

Please answer the above question!!!! Lol

Well there's still the possibility of the gauge being wrong.
You got it new from hypermax, right?

Yes, that's right. I'd tend to trust it but yet....I don't know what to believe.

You wont always hear an exhaust leak, I had a split exhaust manifold along with soot creeping out both ends of my cross over pipe and it didn't make any extra noise. Replacing the bad manifold and cleaning/resealing the cross over got me an extra 2psi of boost.

By the way sycostang, thanks a million for your help with the intake setup!! I really like how it turned out. I was actually able to find a 3.5" to 2.75" reducer elbow so I used 3.5" aluminum tube from the filter to that. Made a bracket off the filter housing to mount to two holes in the intake manifold. Tigged it all together so the only clamps I have are on the elbow.

A great turbo whistle too!!! Lol

OK guys so a couple of things. This morning I discovered that the seal between the snail and the intake had shifted out of place. Thanks 79jasper.

My dome light stays on all the time, whereas it didn't before. Don't see how that can be related.

My WTS light doesn't come on, and glow plugs aren't heating. I moved the controller but Friday when I ran it everything was working perfect... I've had an issue with the ignition switch before, maybe that's the deal again.

Now just need to take it for a test drive to see if I get MORE BOOST............

Check your wires around the turbo and make sure you didn't melt something. I'd say you may have found your culprit.

Edit: Check for pinched wires too.

Looked things over and everything appears to be in order. Tried it again while messing w the ignition switch and nothing.

I suck at wiring so may just take it to a mechanic.................
