Na turbo install

Hey guys! I’m in the process of swapping my 90 7.3 from na to turbo using a factory kit. I’ve not seen in the install instructions ats gave out about the wiring harness to the gpc. Where I relocated it to the passenger side valve cover am I gonna have to extended the wires running to it in order to have enough slack for the rest of the harness to make it to the glow plugs and temp sensor? Also is the harness supposed to run under the turbo and around the back of the engine?

I move all my glow plug controllers to passenger side fender and run the wires along front of the motor with the alternator wires.

When I installed my turbo I got a new wire harness for the GPs to controller, ran it separate from the original harness, then routed all the wires to the front of the engine. When I did it, I took the harness all the way off the engine then reran it along the drivers side intake manifold and above the IP to the glow plug controller - I didn’t have to extend any wires, it was actually a little long but I was able to zip tie the excess up at the controller.

With the wastegated Banks Sidewinder the GP harness runs under the turbo at the back of the engine but Banks supplies a heat shield that goes over the GP harness and throttle cable.

Just one opinion here, but if you have everything apart it might be a good time to make a new harness if the original one is getting too beat up. When I finally make the time I'm going to move the GP solenoid to the passenger fender just to de-clutter the rear of the engine and keep wiring away from a hot turbo. I also bought some cheap heat shield that can wrap around wires or cables--it's called T6 ThermaShield, https://www.techflex.com/high-temperature/t6-thermashield
I added a cheap turbo blanket to keep heat away from other components--melted wires suck.

That's how most of the aftermarket turbos that I've seen were installed. They even had the return line cross over under that turbo like it did from the factory. The main one that was different was the Factory Turbo. Those did relocate the controller and reroute the return line cross over.
