If the TC is rattling you need to get it out ASAP before it lets go and sends shrapnel throughout the rest of the tranny. There are a number of GOOD alternatives out there that can be had for well under $500.00
As far as what Rich was talking about and adding horsepower, the years you wanted to avoid were the post 01 models, they came with PMR rods and anything much above 400 hp they liked to bend and break. Your 99 will have forged rods in it so your good to go.
