I was just wondering. Will glow plugs still work if you use high temp anti seize?
I have copper based high temp anti seize.

Absolutely. Don't get any on the tips / whole heating element. If you do spray them off with brake clean or something and wipe them clean again before installation

Sounds like you've had the stubborn glowplugs too. LOL
I cracked 2 sockets getting them out.

glow plugs, injectors, everyfricken exhaust bolt, and turbo bolt i can....
makes it real nice when its time to come out.

Apply anti sieze to ONLY the threads. Don't get any on the seal at the bottom of the threads. The seal is what keeps compression from leaking out. Not the threads.

So I have the manual switch working and new plugs installed( diesel rx) is 20 seconds long enough for them to heat properly,?

I go for 10 seconds for temps around freezing and crank...if it doesn't fire after 3-5 seconds I glow for another 3-5 seconds and it has always started then.

Same Here it's amazing what a good GlowPlug system will do.

Those glowplugs probably need at least 10-15 seconds.
You're just gonna have to see what works best for your truck.

I went 15 seconds. Fired up real quick. Which really surprised even scared me a little since it's been sitting almost two weeks. Didn't even need a second crank.

Glow plugs can work miracles in cold weather starts. Our idi diesel engine starts by tempture of the compressed air in the cylinders. Its really simple science. The faster you can compress the air being sucked into the cylinders that hotter the air gets. Diesel needs 942 degrees to ignite. So the air MUST be that hot for the engine to fire. Glow plugs help this ignition by supplying something hot in the precups. The area of the precups is about 20 CC so its a very small heated area. One more thing that really helps a diesel start. A fast cranking engine. So if you think cranking till the starter runs slower and slower think again. A slow cranking engine because of bad cables, low batteries or a dieing starter will never start.
