My stand just stays in my garage,

It would be nice to give it shelter but room dose not exsit to give it such luxury. Its current indoor stay is temporary and will end up back out in the weeds with a 6.9.

You do what you have to do. I'm afraid that if I left my stand outside, it would walk off.

You know, I had zero intentions of running an electric fuel pump... Until I saw that sweet finned block off plate LOL

Do you grease the pivot joint on your engine stand?

Agreed have had 7.3s on two harbor freights for a year, moved one to my run stand recently and no bends or issues. I have to spin them with a cherry picker but that’s no bother.

The last 300 times I’ve taken my engine out I’ve always used this stand. Not sure what the rating is, but the last time it sagged quite a lot. But it’s had a bunch of big block boat engines and some other stuff on it. If I buy another one it’ll be the 2k from harbor freight

Hey. Nothing wrong with that. I was taught that when I was 20. It did take me a few years to actually decide what it meant though. We aren't nearly as smart as we think we are when we're 20. Now, at 49, I'm all for the smarter not harder!

I've been reading reviews of supposed 2000 lb engine stands on Amazon and fleabay. Most nobody likes them. They won't spin. They bend down. The arms bend. And that's with a Chevy big block on there, barely 700 lbs. An IDI weighs more like 950 iirc. We have an IDI on a stand right now and had to brace up to the front damper with a 2x6 before we could disconnect the chain hoist.

Has anyone found a decent 2000lb engine stand sold now that works for an IDI? Harbor Freight is out of stock for months.
