well no up dates really, but I did get a deal on some 2 1/2 ton 2wd axles with a two speed rear. So i'm playing with this idea for red. I'm building her for the high way and hauling so I think this would be sick:sly

I had an old F600 for a while with a 18,000 GVW (3 ton?). Had a Rockwell 2-1/2 ton rear end with 6.80:1 gears. HUGE centersection. Looked like a 9" Ford rearend, just twice the size. The medium duty front ends are usually too wide to fit under a standard width front clip. The older medium duty trucks made up for a lack of horsepower with really steep gearing (like 6.40 or 6.80:1). The 2 speed rearends didn't gain anything, the second speed was an even lower gear. If you can find a 4x4 version, they're even steeper; I think 7.40:1. Not being able to find acceptable gears is why I abandoned the project.

looks good since old blue is already a mud truck a 2wd hauler is youre next step
the 2 speed rear will limit top speed but now youll be able to move 2 houses one with idi other with the 2speed those 2 speeds in low will pull anything and the abality to split gears makes hills with load easy

Gettin er nice and shinny, looks real good so far. Don't know how your going to finish it, but watch out for flash rust, can happen overnight. If your going to paint the frame it would be a good idea to prime it when your through for the day. Hope your using a face shield doing that, those wire wheels will throw off small wires, don't hurt going in, hurts like hell coming out.

Hey, hows the Salmon running this year?
