Small world 525 miles for me too. But it's 8 1/2 hours:dunno

On our route, we hit the highway and head on a pretty straight shot with no mountians, your trip consist of PA backroads and mountians, and lots of curves, that is what probablly makes for an extra 1/2 hour.

What Michael is saying is that the IDI Rally started as a local get together. If you guys step up and get a couple of West coast rallys going, a National Rally would be feasible. If you host it they will come. It's really not too involved in planning a simple get together. Find a campground, pick a date, have something local to go see. That's the basic foundation to every "Eastern" IDI rally.

West Coast guys-
You do realize that this began as a MidAtlantic gettogether.
so what ur saying is this rally is a mid alantic thing only or am i wrong :dunno

In the past there has been a couple of guys that put together a West Coast Rally, it just takes someone to put it together, put it out there and see who can make it.

The IDI Rally over the 4th has aways been in this area, because it is a MidAtlantic (Eastern) IDI Rally, It has been in Pennsylvania, MI, Ohio, Tenn, etc. When I hosted in 04 here in Mi, we had attendees as far away as Colorado, and New Jersey.

There is usually some type of vote at the Rallys to see who steps up and who is best suited to host the following year, this year Heath got the vote, and he is already planning some great events.

So this particluar Rally will continue to be in this side of the US, and anyone is welcome and encouraged to come. But it would be awesome to see someone stand up and put together a West Coast Rally, Southern Rally, etc.

At this point everyone has a year to plan there vacation for the Rally. I think this is the earliest that it has been annunced where and when it will be for the following year. That gives us all plenty of time to make the necessary plans to see if we can make it. Vacation, Time, Travel, etc. you actually don't have to have a truck to be there and have a great time at the Rally's, It would be feesable to fly in and hang out rent a camper for lodging, and fly back. Like Mel said that may be cheaper to do than drive.

Lots of time, and lots of options,...

Twelve hundred thirty six miles for me one way. Closer than this years and most of it on I-40. Probably a no-go again. We are booked solid this summer through labor day, two weeks off, then solid thru Halloween with the photography business. I'm projecting it to be much better next summer.

Gary and all west coasters. I threw out the idea of a southwest rally here in New Mexico last year and didn't get many biters. At least not enough to pursue it. But, as several have said, build it and they will come. Unfortuantely, I have run out of build time.LOL Business for us is really taking off. Any time that I thought I have, Carla reminds me that I really don't.:rotflmao If someone puts something together that we could make it to in less than a day, we might attend. We could make a photo shoot out of the trip and write it off.:D

Ryan, you listening???;Sweet

Just remember, all it took to get this started was me parting out a truck with Rob, Doug and Mark. We decided to get together again, and moved the venue to Mark's neck of the woods, and invited anybody who wanted to come to join us. We got Victor from Texas! Just get 3 or 4 of you who are close enough to do it every year, and just keep inviting people. That's how rallies happen.
