So, I would like to introduce my dad's little wonder on wheels, the I4 Ford Ranger 2 wheel drive lol. So we roofed our house recently and instead of my dad taking my truck to get the shingles he took his truck and came back with a pallot full of them, bumper nearly hanging on the ground, lol! So now his back end is sitting lower than normal and he can't see out of the rear view mirror, cause of the awkward angle and if he moves his mirror up he sees the roof of his truck, lol. So is the leaf springs bent, and if so how hard is it to replace them?

As long as the rust is not to bad they are simple.
-one front hanger bolt
-one shackle to hanger bolt
-2 u-bolts
-one spring to shackle bolt once the spring is out of the truck

then repeat on other side

And DO NOT REUSE U_BOLTS
And make sure the tuck is properly supported while doing all of this

ok, now when I do this do I need to jack it up by the frame instead of the axel, or will that matter?

You jack it up buy what ever means you have. Support it by the frame so the tires are off the ground. Support the axle on the side you are working on w the jack, that way you can hold the axle when the spring is removed
