It ****** me off to see good parts (injector lines) vandalized. The hack who did that really should have to pay for it.

Like david85 said, it's a shame to see such a nice truck at the wreckers. The body on that truck is way nicer than mine!

Made me so sad when I went out to Texas to pick up my truck. Every truck in the yard had a decent body. I'm used to the rust belt. There are plenty of trucks with bad fenders and rocker panels on the road but they just crush them down there. I really wish I could afford to run southern parts up here to NY.

If I wasn't broke I'd pay good money for some of the trucks that they just junk down there because they are "too rusty"

I think that might be why the one I bought didn't sell locally. Theres a couple very very small rust spots here and there. Like dime sized.

As towcat already posted.Early non gated turbo. Get it if you can. Been in this yard a few summers ago. Hot as hell too. I use the milliken yard more than any other. sometimes it will be loaded with idi trucks. Other times nothing..

Well, I just got back from the yard, after taking a look. The ZF is still there, the banks turbo is still attached, mostly. There was one Alcoa dually 16" wheel, but the lug holes were pretty well chewed up. If I had found two, I would have bought them anyway. I found another NA diesel, probably a 6.9 elsewhere in the yard. The brown 85 truck with the banks turbo has a nice speedo cluster with a tach and the (tilting) steering wheel looks to be in good shape, although worn. No busted parts. Looks like it has been sitting for a while (more than a year).

That's what I thought looking at the brown truck, looks like it sat for a long time. Did you see my pedal assembly in the toolbox from the zf5 truck lol?

The pedals were still there, along with the underhood light. If the truck is still there in a week or so, I might pull out the ZF and take it home.

I want it, just do not have time to do the work right now. The truck it would go in also needs an engine rebuild, turbo rebuild, possible rear end rebuild/replace (short spline pinion is wobbling around), and probably a rebuild of the front D60 axle, since everything else seems pretty worn out. Oh, yeah. It needs some body work too. Looks like a pole fell on the cab. Twice (or more). In exactly the same place. Someone filled the dent with bondo once, then gave up when the pole hit again.

Go for it. If I am near home (Berdoo) when you plan to pull it, I can give a hand or just guard tools. I am about 3 miles from the yard. PM me if interested.

... just guard tools...

Are people really that bad out there? I'm normally not alone when I hit the junkyards, but if it were that bad, I would definitely ignore the sign on the door about "things" not being allowed on the yard.......

Damn, go to get a part and get your tools jacked....... hell around here, it's not uncommon to borrow / loan a tool to a neighbor on the yard if they / you need it......

It is not bad at all, but it happens. We have a certain demographic that feels that since nobody has thrown them out of the country, perhaps everything is free here. I love this country!

The tools required to remove a transmission from a truck in a yard not your own could be numerous. The more there are, the more likely one will get left behind or sprout legs. Loans are also common here, but it is the person you do not see while you are under the vehicle that will borrow something without saying anything.

The offer is more one of companionship. It is way easier to do a task (especially one like this) if someone is there to talk to. I can turn wrenches or wield a hammer, too. Ask Icanfixall. He made the offer to me a few years ago, I am happy to continue the favor.
