Oh, it is definitely broken, and all along the top also at the defroster vents. I tried retrofitting it with the pass side metal bracket from a junkyard donor, but I think it needs a whole new dash. I'm guessing that when every one of the mounts (top, sides and bottom) aren't broken, the dash repair bracket from the related FSB is a good fix, but not for mine!
Bad engineering, and not an improvement over the previous design.
For this reason, while I like the OBS front end better, I contend that the brick-nose interior is the better way to go. The plastic just plain seems to hold up better. The brick-nose interior was an improvement over the slant-nose interior, but for whatever reason, Ford went backwards when they went to the OBS. :dunno from what I've seen, Ford, learned their lesson and improved the interior on the SuperDuty.

So, my vote for "best truck" would be a brick-nose with an OBS front clip installed ;Sweet

Could be worse, though; I have yet to see a GM plastic interior (i.e. anything from the early 90's on) that isn't actively falling apart :shocked: even on new vehicles, the plastic is just plain poor quality...

Is that a direct wire on for that light?

IIRC yes, and if it isn't exact, it's very close. I like the idea of adding a second one to the back of a crew-cab...I may have to get my hands on a second light assembly and give it a try ;Sweet
{on edit} I don't have a chrome dome light assembly to compare, but here's the Taurus dome light assembly...you can see the three screws that mount it and also serve as the electrical connections. In both pictures, the dome light faces DOWN. I marked the location of the mounting screws in the "back" side since they're backed out enough that they're difficult to see...

I may have asked this before, but I'll ask again...where are people finding LED drop-in replacements for the Taurus dome light? Does anyone have a part number for the incandescent lights for cross-referencing purposes?

I didn't use drop in replacements in my 150/250 or when I added the second dome light in the 350, what I did was I got one of the LED dome light kits that had the biggest led in it and then I took a thing of speaker wire and took a 5 inch piece of just wire stripped from the rubber, and took just 3 of the individual wires and twisted them all together so I could thread the tiny end through the base of the LED bulb that looked like this <===> through the tiny end and tied it like a knot. Then I tied the other part of the wire to the place where the dome light bulb would push in and soldered it there and did the same to the other side of the base of the LED light so yeah it's basically hanging there by 3 tiny pieces of individual twisted together speaker wire, but it's worth the brightness and improvement especially with those clear lenses from eBay. The map lights I did get a direct LED replacement, I just picked an LED with a metal base and it twisted right in.

I found the part number for the standard replacement bulb from Autozone, then searched that number via ebay along with "LED" and found a drop in replacement LED bulb.

Tie between:
* steering rag joint
* vacuum HVAC / brakes requiring vac pump
* Headlight switch/wiring
* Clutch pushrod bushing
* (OBS) odometer that's six digits, but still turns over at 399,999

You know, for any uninitiated reading this they'd probably be scared to buy a Ford OBS LOL

I did not have any problems with it yet but the IDM on the OBS seems a bit misplaced because water always drips on it - that can't be good.

Other than the already mentioned headlight switch and wiring (have this problem right now on my F350) I can't complain about anything ... and I have wrenched on both trucks since 2012 (since 2014 OBS).

Wait...there is one thing...
every truck I seen has rust inside the cab on the left and right front corner...

and another stupid thing is foam inside the extended cab (collects moisture and rusts the cab corner from the inside out)

Body mounts! DS mount won't pop loose from itself. PS came apart fine. No rust on this truck!

Well supposedly obs odometers only go to 300,000 then reset.

i think it's 399,999 then not a reset but roll back to 300,000.

with that said, i don't feel it's a big deal.if you can manage to put that many miles on a vehicle,the odds are not much is still original and miles don't count for a whole lot once past 400k miles anyway lol.by then,it's a likely indicator it's time for a new project.:D

This!!!!^^^^

I have no idea why they thought a sponge in an enclosed body panel was a good idea unless you want it to rust.
