you got no idea how many midwesterners are hoping you will do this.
problem is, now I have to start storing sheetmetal rather than killing the trucks.

Bigger problem is I only get into your neck of the woods a couple times a year. Ther ain't no telling how long you'ld be stuck storing stripped shells.

Anything I do has to be completely above board through the company I'm leased too.

There are a probably a couple hunded haul and tow trucks but only 5 with the deep stepped down bed like this. Rest all have dovetail flat beds. We're the only ones that can haul an 11' tall trailer on top of the truck and be under the max legal 13'6".

If the one you saw was a black FL112 extended cab with the step bed like mine that had a 15 passenger van on top and dragging an old travel trailer would be my buddy. He went down to SC last week. His was the 3rd one built.

Ok, now I see the difference. Yes, this was just a flatbed with dovetail, not nearly as either of the ones you've built.

the storage I will figure out ahead of time. My focus up to now is not for the long term storage of the stripped shells. but I can adaprt to that.
Same goes for titling. whatever items that has a VIN number will have a title or a salvage certificate. I am trully trouble adverse when it comes to looking like an actual chop shop:D

Man I hate flux core welding, only caught myself on fire about 10 times today.

The right half of the bed is completely welded up. Front corner is reinforced. Started to add a stop for tires up front from some scrap crossmembers and built the tool box mount for the right side. Unfortunatly I forgot to add the 1/4" spacer to the mount when I welded it to the frame pinching the top of the tool box so I can't slide it in. Oh well, chop it off and put it back tomorrow..... the right way.

The 5' 5000 lb per axle aluminum ramps, from discount ramps, to go from the step deck to the top deck came in today too. The plan to store these is on top of the tool boxes or slip in the ramp pocket in the bumper and store them above the set of 8' ramps.

Spent all day yesterday just rebuilding the toolbox mount..... Can also store and lock the ramps for the upper deck above the toolbox. It's a bit of a pain getting them in and out of the mounts but they are pretty safe and secure there.

Been welding deck plate on most of today until a rain band from hurricane Earl came through. We dodged a bullet so far with him finally turning north.

Have all of the plate on the right side of the bed completely welded on and started installing the angle on the inside edge to stiffen it up.

Nice build. Im assuming the deck is leaning due to the weight of teh deck on one side...

Nope, not even close. There's only 360 lbs of deck plate there, not enough to make a 32,000 gvw vehicle lean. The whole truck is leaning because it's parked on the unlevel ground right in front of the shop where the roots of an old maple tree just left of the truck push up this area and my poor camera angles make things look worse. The cab is also air ride and leans a bit too so you have to build off the frame and not worry about the cab lean.

When the back tires of the truck are just inside the shop door the truck frame sits perfectly level.

That's a hoss right there!! Mount a huge winch on the front and that would be the icing on the cake :)

;ReallyNow yer messing with my money maker:backoff

I abuse it 2 - 10 times a week myself. Was worth every penny;Sweet

ya i bet! i really want a roll back but i dont make enough money off junk cars to justify spending $5000 on one. if i ever get big in the car business i might just buy one but for now a car dolly and a trailer work good enough ;Sweet

The real money is in hauling wrecks from the salvage auction to the Salvage yards.I help a buddy do it every once in a while. He throw me 50 bucks if I just ride along and drive a car back to so he gets 70-100 per car and has a 4 car Rig.

so how is the mile marked winch holding up? i assume it is ok, just curious since there can be a lot of "go warn or go home" in the jeep crowd.
