Does anyone happen to know the exhaust housing AR for the banks gen 1 non waste gated turbo? Also can I use my same starter when zf5 swapping from a C6?

Thanks

I don't know about the turbo, but all the starter is the same no matter what transmission you have.

The real differences are in the turbine housings, the 088 uses a proprietary 1.1 AR turbine housing and a slip joint turbo flange that only allows that housing to fit. The 085 uses a T4 flange and I think around a 1.0 AR exhaust housing and the turbine from the 088 and the compressor wheel and housing similar to the 093. Both are better turbos than none at all, and Ive made over 400hp with the 088, but both turbo kits lack response mostly due to their large exhaust wheels and housing ARs. I would go with the 085 design personally. The T4 flange gives you options to bolt on any aftermarket T4 turbo which is impossible due to the 088s design.

I believe those were a .98 ar
Might want to do some measuring/mock up, some of the early turbos dont fit well with the zf.

Thanks for the response I’ll have to see what turbo I have I don’t think it’s the slip fit. I just know it’s the older banks kit without wastegate. I am installing a 2” body lift. My grandads running boards hide this too. I’ve done this on all my IDI’s and my reason is because it gives so much more room for the turbo piping and pulling transmission and maintenance. My truck is a mint 1986 6.9 with gen 1 banks turbo and c6. Once the body lift is on I’ll swap the c6 for my zf5. I’m planning on swapping turbos and adding a wastegate. I get about 6lbs boost now. Truck runs great but want to get up around 10lbs and have overdrive. I also plan on swapping tires to the 255/85R16 for looks and to slow everything down a bit more I have 4.10 gears. Truck is 2wd.

Plans are zf5 swap, turbo swap, intercool, body lift and wheels and tires, I have a gear vendors I want to put in as well but won’t be until next year I need to send it in. I’m okay with the power and just a little more would be great. I mainly want to turbo swap for sound and response. Give me an excuse to build a nice exhaust. I don’t have studs and still on the stock pump. CCD isn’t far from me so eventually I may go that route. For now just a slight revamp more for looks and drivability with modern speed limits here in TX.

These are all ATS turbos.
Plans are zf5 swap,
This didn't sink in until now. I'm not sure what you mean by "turbo Swap", but the Banks kits are transmission type specific. Either manual or automatic. You can't use a turbo built for an automatic with a standard transmission. It physically will not fit and vice versa. That may only be for the earlier, non wastegated ones. I'm not sure on the latest gen Sidewinder.

I believe sidewinders are universal.

If I remember right, the banks require the little extension bit for the oil feed to be removed, then a fitting threaded directly to the block to allow clearance. Then the oil pressure sender is relocated to a oil galley block on the side of the turbo
