So after morming chores I got the passenger door apart. Lock rod installed with new clip, power lock actuator installed and spent over 6 hours in town with the truck doing grocery shopping, errands and lunch with the wife. It’s strange to think my horses are more town broke then I am. Boy I hate the city. But of coarse the truck ran great and got many compliments.

No pictures, but I l used my Blue Truck to take the plow truck over to my garage. I actually used the other guy from work too. He's the one who wants to buy the 460 and chassis so I let him drive the plow truck. I wanted to see how the transmission shifts so I drove the plow truck for the last 5 miles. After that experience, I'm not going to complain about how "loose" the steering is in my Blue Truck. The ride is MUCH better too. All I could think was "what a POS! I'm glad that I'm not wanting to keep this thing!" After driving his '93 F150 and then the plow truck, the other guy was very impressed by my truck.

Started my adventure of side jobs.
2010 explorer awd, has raw fuel leaking at engine. Should be easy flip.

Just stick it in N for tow or remove driveshaft?

I drove over to my garage. I started out helping some friends cut down a tree next to their driveway. Long story short, instead of taking about 45 minutes like I thought it would, it ended up taking over three hours. Then, by the time that I hot everything put back away, I was frustrated enough that I just went home. On the way there, I hit a quail with the truck. On the way home, I hit a rooster pheasant. Apparently the truck thinks that I should start bird hunting again. No damage was done either time so I was happy about that. I guess the best part of the day was the fact that I got to drive home with the driver's side window completely down for the first time in months.

To add to the above. Not really with my truck, but it's related. The friend who I cut the tree down for has been talking about getting a IDI powered truck. Another guy, who I would call a friend if I knew him better, told me that he's planning to buy his old IDI powered truck back. Friday night, after I got home, a different friend called me and said that he's planning to buy a IDI powered truck with a bale bed on it. I'm starting to think that I'm a trendsetter. I'm also starting to feel pretty important as well!

First warm day in months! Opened hood to hook up batteries and found some critters have moved in, despite my peppermint cottonballs (which work good in the camper!) so will be removing all that. Need the truck to make a run to Florida with my dad's trailer so need to make sure it's in good shape.

A while back I posted questions about fitting a dana 61 with 3.07 gears into my 94 idit to replace the 4.10 stierling that is in it, to make a hiway truck for traveling because I loved the milage that I use to get with the 84 that came with that axle.

Well I contacted a drive line shop and asked what gears they could find for the stierling axle and they found a set of ,New old stock, ford 3.31 gears. Which they are now shipping to me.
Now I won't have to screw around with the speedo and brakes although I had all ready decided to go with the 3.54 gears for the same reasons

The zf5 swap is close to being done and with the 38 gallon rear tank also on order, along with a new mid tank I am looking forward to my first trip this summer with this truck.
I like driving back country roads when I travel ,and with the range I should get, I won't have to worry as much about finding service stations.:)

You’re gonna regret it but ok. What sized tires are you running. Clutch Is going to suffer big time. hope you don’t haul anything or tow anything. I get 25mpg empty with 4.10s and 32” tires. Mpgs is more about slowing the heck down and keeping the motor in the correct power band and of coarse not accelerating like it’s a dragster. But hey you do you if you like to rob 20-30% of torque. What people don’t realize is gears are torque multipliers. But they cane also divide. buy going lower your killing torque.

Hi idibobs

I am not going to be towing with this rig. I am using it for travel and camping only. I will have the 4.10 gears to put back in if I change my mind.

I am not unfamiliar with how these gears work as my 84 idi f250 had the 3.07 gears and I loved them when I wasn't towing.
The top 3 gears all will do 60 mph which will be great in the mountains. As will as on flat ground.

The zf5 I am putting in is the s47 with a 5 to 1 first instead of the 4 to 1 of the s42. It also is from a 4x4 with transfer case so I have the ability for low speed if needed. Even though this is a 2wd truck on stock tires

Hope you understand my thought process.

Cheers
